evilbadgers could be a great entertainment blog site or just overall goofy site like ebaumsworld or something.

Aw.  Thanks!  Not planning to register a domain name any time soon.  I'm master of my own domain!

Depending on where you register the domain, anywhere from $7 to $20 per year.

There's a good chance that a lot of names that were previously locked up might become available as people realize that the web boom is not what it was. No one is paying really big money for domains anymore, like I think ExxonMobil did a few years ago. It's too easy to just get another one that will work for you.

That's part of it. About 30,00 to 40,000 names hit the "drop" list each day. This is the first year that the overall number of active domains has gone down, but there are still huge numbers of domains being parked and registered each day.

Not unless it's a premiere name or very, very short, or a dictionary word. Those still command a high price but not like it used to be. I have a few 3-letter domains that would be worth something but the real value is in developing a domain. People aren't as "name-focussed" as they used to be, hence the rise of domains like flikr, floogle, etc etc. In the "olden days" (pre-2000) a lot of sites gained popularity by word of mouth. Now sites are spread primarily through links so it doesn't matter what the name is or how it's spelled.

Can you put me down for "theworstsonofabitchintheworldismikefromdiscovervancouver.com?"

Interesting TB. Thanks for the response.. I missed it earlier.

I thought the web boom went bust years ago? And its been a slow increase again, just not as unsustainable as before?

Hmmm, that should be registerable, but those cheesedicks at web.com say:

[span style="font-weight: bold;" class="orderHeaderText"]The domain name you selected,     [span id="CtlFullDomain"]"theworstsonofabitchintheworldismikefromdiscovervancouver.com[/span], was not  available.[/span]

It should be...it's not too long, nor is it already registered. However, [a href="http://www.register.com/retail/product/domain/searchresults.rcmx?action=searchresults"]Register.com[/a] says:

[span class="large"]Congratulations! [b class="txtGreen"]theworstsonofabitchintheworldismikefromdiscovervancouver.com[/b] is available
          You can get your domain name only, [a href="http://www.register.com/retail/product/domain/searchresults.rcmx?action=searchresults#B"]choose a solution[/a] or [a href="http://www.register.com/retail/product/domain/searchresults.rcmx?action=searchresults#C"]add individual services[/a] below.

Like any business, you gotta be in it for the long haul. My oldest domain name, the first one I registered, is about 10 years old now..."virtually prehistoric" as they say.  (Ha! Get it? "Virtually"?)
