If anything, people are probably are more careful nowadays, having a morbid fear of AIDS, anti-biotic resistant syphilis (fairly new strains of the disease) and suchlike (very justified fears). Speaking for myself, when pretty ladies come on to me (alas, doesn't happen as much as it used to), after the primitive caveman-type reaction (when I can barely resist excitedly pounding on my chest), my second reaction is something akin to fear (Who else has she been coming on to? What diseases does this lovely lass harbor?).
