finished reading a article on drug addiction and recovery of addicts in the church... found this interesting but not of interest to post any wear else
"Shannon expressed that many of her clients, in one way or another, were dealing with shame and the need to hide, keeping them from true community. Unconditional love and acceptance encouraged them to be real where they didn't have to pretend. The wall of shame, delusion and denial that surrounds drug addiction can only be penetrated in such an environment. A church that is 'emotionally authentic' gives addicts a safe place to thaw out emotions frozen by years of such denial."
as a recovering addict... i just wanted to state even after 15 years clean this statement made by Shannon is very true and applies very much to areas of my own walk in life... even years later to this very day.
it is nice to learn more on things at times... and other times its better to remain ignorant.. sighs or is it. such a conundrum is it better to know something or is it better to remain ignorant..
