I personally think the best year for commericals was '99 the internet company year.  Anything after '04 sucks because of the censorship crackdown, its getting worse then Chinese censorship.  

The funniest I remember is the old Nissan commericals back in the mid 90's with the gi joe toy models. The Low Rider song played in the commerical.  Then there is that '99 commerical with the shooting gerbils. Outpost.com (now defunct) had gerbils shooting out of a cannon then at the end said, Send complaints too Outpost.com. classic.

But personally I like really cool commericals that are movie like instead of comedy. Noir-ish commericals rule, but since the censorship crackdown those don't exist anymore.  For example I don't think the 1984 commerical would pass the censors anymore.

I suspect ads will become a thing of the past in the near future, with people downloading events onto their laptops and deleting or fast forwarding ads. I see ads relocating to places like this forum and online media.

Thats already happening Lise. I think Youtube is now having commericals on its website.
