WHAT THE FRACK is wrong with people? The father's head should be examined.... no, he should be shot on the spot. I don't understand these honour killing. Doesn't he know that he's lost his daughter forever? And for what? To 'redeem' his family's honor?

As if to add further insult, any man who do this 'honour killing' gets up to 6 months in prison.

I don't get people.... man, what a frack up world we live in. *shakes head in disbelief*

[DIV class=para12 id=article] AMMAN, Jordan - A Jordanian man shot dead his 17-year-old daughter and surrendered to police, saying he had done it for family honour, a state forensic pathologist said Thursday.

The father suspected his daughter of having sex and continued to doubt her chastity even after a clinic said she was a virgin, said the pathologist, who spoke on customary condition of anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the issue.

The father shot her four times in the head on Tuesday. An autopsy was performed on Wednesday, and this showed "she was still a virgin," the pathologist said.

The authorities have not disclosed the names of the father or the daughter or even their town, saying only that they lived in a southern province. The autopsy was performed at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Amman.

The pathologist, who works at the institute, said in a phone interview that the girl had ran away from home several times but he did not give the reason. She was brought to the family protection clinic in Amman where her virginity was examined.

"The tests proved that she was a virgin," said the pathologist. She returned home only after her father signed a statement promising not to harm her, he added.

The crime is the first "honour killing" this year. On average about 20 women are killed by their relatives each year in Jordan where many men consider sex out of wedlock to be an almost indelible stain on a family's reputation.

The government has been fighting an arduous battle with parliament to pass legislation that would raise the sentences for honour killings. Queen Rania has also called for harsher punishment for such killers.

But conservative legislators have defeated attempts to toughen the sentences, arguing they would lead to promiscuity.

The penal code says a man found guilty of an honour killing can receive a sentence as light as six months in jail.

Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.
