What a let down!!! Grrrr!! Could have been better, had so much potential and could have been up there with movies like LOTR. Eragon the movie has such bad script despite talented actors like Jeremy Irons and John Malconvich. (sp) Only bright spot was Rachel Weiz's voice as Saphira, she had more talent on her talons than all the casts combined.

  Book is so much better!

Dragonheart was soooo much better. *sigh*

Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.

I haven't seen the movie, myself, but there was a general consensus on a screenwriting newsgroup that the film was a disaster, and a debate over who to blame for it.

A while back, someone asked me if I read Eragon.  I said I hadn't but that maybe I'd like it since I enjoy Beowulf.  Hah, I sure feel silly! Eragon is obviously no Beowulf.

Lise

Well, to be honest, the book is designed for young readers so reading was a bit too... what's the word for it.... "childish" for me. It's still a good book though. I would put the author Christopher Paolini right there with JK Rowling.

So you enjoyed Beauwulf, eh? Hm. I've always been curious about the movie. Maybe I will go and rent it.

Whoah, hold your dragons, there.  The epic poem, not the movie!  I've never seen the movie, and don't want to be held responsible if the movie is disappointing.

Thats too bad Lise, I was actually thinking about going to see it this week.

The next movie on my list is Children of Man.

Have you seen bodyworlds? We are going to see that on wednesday.

I remember reading "Beowulf" many years ago and enjoying it immensely.  Eragon doesn't seem to have the powerful imagery that the poem did.
Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped.  They have not forgotten.

So, the movie sucked, huh?

I have that book and will start reading it this week.  Books are always better than the movie.

I am getting frusterated with movies nowadays in general. even when a movie seems to be ok, the ending sucks and wrecks the whole thing!

Orca

   CK!!!

  Not that great eh Lise?

In that case I might not watch it until it gets to DVD.

I love John Malkovich and Jeremy Iron! The book is for kids though...

How is it compare to Narnia - the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

Someone told me that LOTR is way better, but again, one is for big kids/adult and the other is for younger audiences.

I thought 'The Night at the Museum' is well made. It is very simple stories, but everyone plays well on that movie. I enjoy the jokes too.

I havent seen eragon due to Lise's recommendation.. the next movie Im going to see is children of men [A href="vny!://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206634/"]vny!://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206634/[/A]

I have to say even without seeing it, that LOTR is better. And me being a CS Lewis die hard fan, I was hoping that The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe would be great!!! I saw it in theatres on teh first day it came out... and it wasnt as good as it should have been. It was too kiddiefied in my opinion. Still a good movie though.

      Hi Orca!!! COOOL!!!

Night at the Museum looks like one I might have to wait until it gets on the movie channel. I don't mind Stiller.

Lise

Put it this way, if you're prepared for bad scripts, lousy acting, then go for Eragon. I was groaning all the way, couldn't wait to see the end of the movie. All it had was special effects but those fall short if you haven't got good scripts to support you.

Even Jeremy Irons couldn't save the movie. I mean, wth... he's a great actor and you give him one lousy script. Man.

I could direct that movie better.

The book is not too bad. I'm reading it right now. For kids.... well.... it's got some nasty parts that made me a bit shock because I thought it was aimed for young readers. It's a worthwhile book. I enjoy it much more than the movie.

Maybe I'll wait and see Night at the Museum. Looks like fun though I can't really stand Ben Stiller.
