Oooh, it was "an error in  judgment". It wasn't "collusion" or "conspiracy to deceive", just a simple "error in  judgment". Riiiiiiiight. He and the prosecutor should both go to jail.

(CBS) The forensic expert hired by the prosecutor in the Duke rape case says he made a "big error" in judgment by not stating in his report that the only DNA he found on the accuser was from several men who were not on the Duke lacrosse team.

Dr. Brian Meehan speaks with 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl in his first interview about the controversial case this Sunday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Meehan acknowledged that he has never omitted potentially exculpatory evidence before. "We haven't done that before," he tells Stahl. "In retrospect, I should have done a better job of conveying that information."

Meehan has stated that he told the prosecutor, Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong, about the other DNA for the first time in mid-April. Later that same month, Nifong indicted three Duke lacrosse players. Meehan has also said in court proceedings that he and Nifong agreed before the evidence tests were completed that his report should be limited to positive matches between the accuser and the players at the team party where she says she was sexually assaulted last March.

Meehan says writing an incomplete report violates his own firm's standards. "It was an error in judgment on my part. ... It certainly was a big error," says Meehan. He says his firm wasn't trying to hide the information and that it released it when it was asked. But his client's behavior irks him, he says.

Nifong took six months to tell the players' defense attorneys about the other DNA, as required by law — and during that time, Nifong filed a court motion that stated he was not aware of any potentially exculpatory evidence. [span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 191);"](And THAT was a goddamn LIE. -tb)[/span]

The fact that Nifong withheld the information and knew it before he indicted their sons has outraged the parents of the accused. "You felt like someone hit you with a baseball bat. ... It was almost too much to bear, as we sat there," says Kathy Seligmann, whose son, Reade, is among the three indicted players. "And [Nifong is] sitting 10 feet away from us."

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

The prosecuter and this useless tool should be thrown in jail with the brothers and ass raped for the next fourty years. Then again, jail is about punishment. These two idiots would probably enjoy it.

Russ

Fine example of the pendulum swinging too far and her story being believed by the government and public mind FIRST without question. Then after the lives of the boys in question and their families have been destroyed by the media.. oh sorry. We made a mistake, please, you may go now.

Sue them into the stone age along with the DA... and take away their bar lisence.

Russ like i said in the prenup thread, the woman will always be believed over the man. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that come what may, nothing will happen to her.

P.C.

Disgusting.  Withholding such crucial evidence is unthinkable.

*ripper.....your focus on females being the only one capable of lying is amusing.  I'm sure OJ told the truth....the whole truth.....an nothing but the truth. I'm sure for every female who has lied about being raped, there are probably 100 rapists who lied about raping. (not that this makes it excusable to ever lie about being raped)

O.J. definitely lied. But he had to stand trial and prove his innocence. Even than, he used the old standby to get off. Racism. Now look at our Karla. She was portrayed as a victim. Why is that.

Russ

Investigation is required... without bias or announcement by the media.

However the two main culprits here are her lawyers and the DA for that area, and the second being the media. They swooped in and portrayed her as the victim and the boys as the devil. By hearing just the initial news story, they were already convicted.

You are right PC that ALL rapists say they are innocent.. they didnt do it, she wanted it, it was consentual. Things should be investigated without the news vultures.

True Russ.....the media has messed up more cases.  I wish there was a law about even hearing about these things, until a verdict has been reached.  THAT would be news.....Facts instead of speculation.  They're starting to be less accurate than the weather man, without ever having to be accountable.

I remember when, if you heard it on the news, you could bet you got the facts.  NOW, you can flip 20 stations, read 5 news papers, and not one of them will have matching statistics.  Sometimes their speculation on how many deaths in a particular tragedy are out by hundreds and even thousands.  They need to clean up their act....they MAKE more news than news they report accurately.
