Did he deserve to be executed ?

Please don't paste half my quote to better criticise the other half.  You continue to be deluded that you're the only one that understands what they are reading.

I personally do not believe in the death sentence (which is neither here nor there in answering your question).  The other half of my quote states, whether the penalty is  right or wrong, the guy that chose to ignore the possiblity of the consequences of his actions apparently decided his drugs were worth the risk.

If I were to go to another country, that clearly states that singing in this country is punishable by death, you can bet your butt, I wouldn't sing.  How much simpler does it need to get?????

Do I think he should be executed? I think all drugs should be legalized, so of course not. That being said, doing that kind of nonsense in Singapore is utterly stupid.
"Disneyland with the death sentence" is how it was described once. Complaining about justice in Singapore is like complaining about too many Mormons in Utah.
Remember that American a decade-or-so ago who got a caning for graffitti? (and not the fun knid of caning either-I bet he didn't have a safe word)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It' easy to say "that's stupid" from behind your computer and the comfort of your home.
This guy took a calculated risk because it was the only way, in his view, to be able to quickly pay off his brother's debts. He didn't see a better way.

Some take a calculated risk and are lucky, and are admired for it ; others are not so lucky and are called stupid and have deserved their death sentence... don't you realize how callous that is ?

I didn't intentionally paste only half your quote ; I usually juste quote what I am replying to (as is good practice when replying to posts in messageboards or on usenet - did you know ?)

Stop that fault-finding (I sincerely sympathize with hubby).
That other half of your quote- as you are quoting it here - just repeats what I stated several times already, nothing more. Why would I criticize that ?

And how simpler can it get ?
You are unable to imagine that life isn't always as simple as you seem to think it is, aren't you ?

Frankly, you people are so full of yourselves. You are convinced you know better than the other guy how he has to live his life. Did you try for one moment to imagine WHY that guy took the risk ?

My opinion is that NOBODY deserves to be executed  for any crime or on any pretext whatsoever.

Continue ranting to yourself.  It will be easy to not respond to your nonsense, because I will no longer bother reading it.

Ok, the highlighted part made me lose any respect I had for you and any chance of responding to you. I will read anything put to me, even if I disagree with it, I dont care how sarcastic or condensending you are. We are all different with different ideals, with different ways of expressing it. When you give potshots or personal insults to someone, you go too far. Apologize.

You are insulting people whom are stating their beliefs which you asked for. You asked everyones opinion, in which I wrote TWICE that I believed he went against the Singaporean Law and knew the punishment. If you would bother to understand the context of what I wrote, which you are accusing us of; you would see that I meant yes, he should be executed.

Frankly, you people are so full of yourselves. You are convinced you know better than the other guy how he has to live his life. Did you try for one moment to imagine WHY that guy took the risk ?

For right or wrong, I am pretty liberal and philosophical minded. But with the facts that you presented, I gave my opinion of what you presented. If you would present more FACTS or circumstances, I might be inclined to change my judgement, I dont do what ifs. My opinions arent set in stone, give me a good reasoning, and I might change.

He can make all the excuses that he wants. He and others of his ilk have caused tremendous pain and harm. Did he deserve to be executed.? Yes.

Stop that fault-finding (I sincerely sympathize with hubby).   That's laughable coming from the biggest fault finder.

So you only criticize the comments that don't agree with you?

You are unable to imagine that life isn't always as simple as you seem to think it is, aren't you ?

Of course you know what kind of life everybody here has had.  You are unable to imagine that some people here may have had to overcome extreme difficulties, and most did it without smuggling drugs.

You are convinced you know better than the other guy how he has to live his life. Did you try for one moment to imagine WHY that guy took the risk ?

It looks like the other guy didn't have a very good idea how to live his life either. I imagine he took the risk because he had no regard for the law or for the aftermath of suffering his 400 grams of heroin would create. Is he by chance your twin brother because you're both idiots.

You keep telling everyone to think.  You ought to try it. You could end up not looking like such an ass.

Please tehborken, ban this a**hole. Please, please, please. Or make the board registration only.

Registration only is beginning to sound like a great idea.

Frankly, your choice of words indicates your own ignorance and immaturity.
If you only so much as actually READ my reply you would understand that all I am doing is stating my thoughts on the issue and I am absolutely NOT participatinig in an insulting contest as you people seem to think you are doing, nor am I pretending to "have mature and intelligent conversation".

Try to get past your prejudices and try to understand what I am saying.

Please tell me : how does my reply make me into the biggest a**hole in the universe and a hypocrite, how do you reckon it is ignorant crap, and how am I suddenly just a common a**hole anymore ?

Are you sure that's actually a good choice ?  :)

So you think a discussion forum is a place to come seeking for opinions ?
Another one who doesn't know what a forum is for and knows nothing about free speech and thought.... I have noticed for some time now that the sole fact of using that free speech and daring to think freely (or at least trying to) has resulted in this sorry bunch insulting, ridiculing and denigrating me practically at every turn rather than just stating YOUR opinion about the issue.

Do you call that a balanced or mature behavior ?

So, I see I have to explain to you : a forum is not for seeking opinions ; I have my own, thank you ; and if I don't have one, I try to think about the issue while gathering the info I need so that I can have my own opinion.

What one wants - and what you people still don't seem to get - is that honest and relatively open discussion based on those opinions should be possible.

The fact of someone's opinion not matching mine is to expected. The problem seems to be that you people are not able to accept that I actually dare to DEFEND my opinions and dare to argument. You retaliate very quickly by calling this "whining" and other silly comments ; and if I only so much as DARE comment about this and go on defending my opinions, why, all hell is breaking loose ; and the stuff you are writing.... is too sorry for words.

I wonder what makes you people unable to actually accept free speech and free thought ?

Lol, Bumbling Bozo is such an asswipe. Thanks for pointing out his self-contradicting statements, most of which I'm sure he doesn't even understand. It's really funny because he made all of those statements himself with no prompting. I love the "what's your opinion" followed by the "a forum is not seeking opinions". LOL!!!

I'm a non-registered user and I vote to make the board registration only. If it happens, no problem, I'll register!  I won't whine about it and I won't have a hissy fit like Bumbling Bozo. So you got my vote to make it "registered users only" if it'll help stop the droning noise he makes.
