I agree, Russ.  I think it's a case of who plays a better game.  Facts and evidence fall second place to those who know how to manipulate a story and the minds of the jurors.  The lawyers.

It's all about THEIR strategy, THEIR ability to 'build' a case, THEIR ability to make you believe a distorted interpretation of the law. They fight against each other, not injustice.  And those who can do it best.....win.

The truth doesn't really matter any more.  As long as the lies are convincing they usually work better than truth.

soapbox wrote:  The proceeds will be protected from judgement by a limited liability corporation, standard stuff.

I'm not  convinced of that, soapbox.  I know a person can not profit from his crimes, but according to the courts, he's committed no crime.  I think he's free and clear to profit away.

from what i understand he has an outstanding CIVIL judgement against him.money earned from the sales of his book will be protected in a limited liability co.

this CIVIL order is still in effect.

Russ

I forgot about that, you are right soapbox. They lost the criminal trial but the family won in civil court that awarded then money and lots of money from his future earnings as well.

Profiting from a criminal conviction falls under the 'Son of Sam' law.  I'm not sure at all, but isn't that only applicable in a criminal conviction but not necessarily a civil liability?  Plus, the 'son of sam' law varies from state to state.  I can't help but wonder if there are some loopholes he could slither through.

OK...I just tried that, but I don't understand legalese too well.  So in summary, I don't know what it said.

(11-20) 12:39 PST New York (AP) --   News Corp. says it has canceled publication of the O.J. Simpson book and television special "If I Did It."

In a two-part special scheduled for next week, Simpson discusses the murders of his ex-wife Nicole and Ron Goldman.

Fox quotes News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch as saying he decided that the project was "ill-considered."

Several Fox affiliates had chosen not to broadcast the special, in which Simpson talks in hypothetical terms about his role in the killings.

Has there been a movie on OJ yet?  If not, I'm pretty sure one'll come out.  I'm not surprised because Picton murders were going to turn into a movie.

I couldn't believe that he wrote a book, a WHAT IF book!  For crying out loud!!!!!!!!  If he was sentenced guilty, he would probably write a book about how life would be if he wasn't guilty.  He would write a book titled "What if I was not guilty."  BLEH!....TWO THUMBS AND TOES DOWN!

Russ

Seriously? The Picton murders a movie? Wow.

I can see the OJ simpson drama queen being made into a movie, but Pickton?

I know.  I was shocked too.  I couldn't believe that they did that.  Well, Karla became a movie.

That's the link to the Pickton movie.
