Always remember that one man's fish is another man's poisson.
Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped.  They have not forgotten.

hoohaa?

I agree its open for everyone, I just thought I would offer, wasnt too sure how close knit this board is/was.

I asked my girlfriend for some input on what restaurants she thought was good and read her the list so far. She hates Samurai Sushi, and memphis blues.

i never did get what the big deal about stephos was. yea, they are cheap and the food is good, but i dont know if i would line up for it. most greek food taste the same to me.

antons on the other hand is damn good.

if you are in the broadway & cambie area, go to sha lin noodles. if it is good enough for rachel ray, it is good enough for me.

Stephos is fantastic because the food tastes really fresh, you get huge servings and its really inexpensive. I almost always get the calamari dinner, you get greek salad, rice, roasted potatoes and a TON of squids, lightly battered and tender...consistently. And its under $10! And its enough for a meal and a half (lunch the next day). There is a greek restaurant in Edmonton that is always touted as the best in town, they charge you for tzatziki and their meals are all over $15 at least!!! If you want to eat in at Stephos, get there around 4:30, not much later. Even the calamari appetizer is a mini feast, i like a restaurant that doesnt try to rip you off. Their takeout is really fast and just as delicious, take it down to the beach to eat. Love that place, have been going there for years.

I've been to Stephos 3 times in the past summer when we finally checked the place out.  From those 3 times, I've only ordered the roast lamb meal.  Mmmm....love lamb.  If you were to buy the roast of lamb that size at a store, it'll be double the price of the meal.   They must buy the lamb for cheap.  Their portions are HUGE that I don't end up eating dinner.  Yeah, be there before 4:30 and you'll be fine.

For fish n chips, you must go to Cockney Kings in New Westminster.  They have the BEST, imo.

Sha Lin Noodle..... yeah, been there. Tried it once. It was not too bad. Noodle made fresh and yes, I saw that Rachel Ray segment on the Best of Vancouver Eats. I don't think it should be nominated for the very best but hey, it's a good experience to see the noodle being made right in front of you.

For Malaysian, I recommend Banana Leaf on W. Broadway but only for the lunch special. If you go with a group of six or more, they automatically add tip to your bill. Not to mention the portions are small. Lunch special is great though. Avoid the one on Denman. Crappy place.

Tropika, Richmond is alright too but they got rid of their lunch special. Sucks. Pretty pricey for Malaysian dishes. I've yet to try the Kedah House on Marine Drive... apparently they have all-u-can-eat Malaysian.

Me and Ed's pizza on Kingsway near HiGate Plaza in Burnaby has the best pizza I've ever had.  You can create your own pizza with unlimited choice of toppings.  They are also in the Entertainment book for a half off of pizza.  Great deal.

Speaking of fish and chips, I do recommend Pajos. Lovely stuff.

Another great place is

  Afghan Horsemen on West Broadway

I went there for a company function and their Afghan platter for two was absolutely delicious.  YUMMY!  They make the best fried potatoes.

I actually went to this place a little while ago for dinner with my gf's dads 69th. It was pretty good. You can get a dinner for six for like 18 bucks a person? And you are pretty full with a lot of different dishes to try. The Tiger Beer reminded me of Singapore, just alot cheaper than there lol.

Thanks puresexxylife for bumping this thread!

As for lineups, I know I sound like a fool or ingrate.. But I dont do lineups period. I will make reservations for a place if I must, but If I go somewhere and have to wait for more than 5 minutes I walk. I do like things like dineout Vancouver and the Entertainment guide, Ill use them moreso to try new places. Theres too many other places to eat and my time is worth more than that to me. I dont care how good the place is, if its good they should expand, if they dont I will spend my money elsewhere and they dont get it. Im not cheap and I can afford pretty much any place I want to eat.. so Im not willing to waste my time waiting to pay.
