I am not sure of average with 2 bedrooms. But I know an average house in Calgary is over $410,000 now. That is an average house in the burbs. Downtown and inner city is a lot more. I heard the avererage condo is over $295,000? Not 100% sure on that. Prices have cooled, but not dropping either.

Holy crap. Things certainly have changed! I thought it was way, way, way cheaper in Calgary. I guess everyone's moving there with the big boom and all.

Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.

Yeah I still say Calgary reminds me too much of Denver but Denver's pretty darn cool been there a couple of times. Whats awesome about the place is when you are coming down from the foothills/mountains on a clear night you can see the entire area lit up for miles upon miles upon miles. I guess you could do the same with Vancouver as well coming down Sea to Sky but Denver is sprawled out like you'd never believe and you can see the airport which is 20 to 30 miles away from the downtown core. lol pretty cool.

ok, I know the media likes to blow things out of proportion, (especially in Canada), but Calgary, yes, has reached the million mark, but that includes the burbs and everything.

Population: 1,000,000

Metro: 1,060,000

What is Vancouver? half a million, with a metro of over 2 million in the GVRD. That 2 million includes the burbs, the half a million is just Vancouver.
See what I mean. Calgary is small in comparison.

Calgary could be considered a mini Denver. Mind you, Denver is like 3 Calgarys. With the economy of Houston, and the beauty of Canada!

Calgary is a migrant town. Not an immigrant town. People from all parts of Canada moved to Calgary for opportunities. People from places like Toronto and Vancouver that were sick of living with roomates or only being able to have a small condo (like me). So, they moved to a city where they could buy a house, thus, neighborhoods sprawled (not like me, I bought a house in in the inner city before the prices jumped, if I were to do it now, I would be SOL!). But unlike some North American cities, the inner city is not being left behind. There is a revival of shopping, art, condo housing, and recreation within the inner city.  Ironic, now most people can't afford to live in Calgary anymore.

So they move to Edmonton?

Because I don't see people moving to Saskatoon (brr!) or the Saint Louis of Canada Winnipeg.

Morning sports!

Edmonton, the North, the south, all of Alberta is expensive now. Doesn't matter where.

My girlfriend's parents live in Red Deer and it is really pricey there too.

Not sure of the Winnipeg/St. Louis comparison??

I read a report on homeless people in Winnipeg. Read some things about Winnipeg. Nobody lives downtown for fear of crime they all live in the suburbs. In the downtown core its the super rich and the homeless. I just saw a lot of comparisons.

Ah, I see! I hear more negative things about Winnipeg, from people from Winnipeg, haaha! I don't know much about the place. I do know they have a huge arts community and one of the biggest folk fests in North America.

I dunno its not up on there website anymore but Globe and Mail did a photo journalist story with audio about the "Two Winnipegs" and to me it said thats Saint Louis all over it.

And Denver is bigger but the city is smaller but Denver's got LoDo. awesome place. Can't wait to actually visit it next year when I can drink.
