Boy Scouts Arrested For Blowing Up Car
(AP) REDONDO BEACH, Calif. Three Boy Scouts have been arrested Tuesday for using a pipe bomb to blow up a car.
Firefighters called to an alley over the weekend found a 1968 Chevrolet on fire.
Investigators determined that a pipe bomb torched the car and blew a hole in a nearby garage door and damaged a wall across the alley.
Police Sergeant Phil Keenan says the pipe was retrieved, and a bloodhound tracked the scent to a nearby home.
A boy, 16, at the home was arrested. Later, police arrested a 17-year-old from Los Angeles and a Hawthorne boy, 16. The boys were released to their parents but could face arson and bomb-making charges.
Authorities say the boys don't have criminal records and apparently set off the bomb as a prank.
