Anybody have a strange taste in music (anything that's not mainstream)

I'll start.

There are three types of music that I enjoy that is differnt from other people.

I like organ church music. Most likely due to the fact that my dad is an organist, grew up listening to him.

I like poka music. Call me old but again I grew up in it. My late grandpa played the accordian.

And finally cajun music. I love going anywhere in the south and here cajun music. Probly because it sounds a lot like polka music and reminds me of my grandpa. I could listen to somebody play all day. Good stuff.

  Anybody else got differnt types of music tastes?

I don't think it's that mainstream, but I'm a big Mike Oldfield fan, and I still listen to a lot of Boingo and Andrew Lloyd Webber (sp)

[Future Canadian]

I always seem to have a huge crush on bands that no one else seems to know/care about.
In the early 90's I was way into 3 Mustaphas 3, a kind of Eastern-European Pogues.
Later it's been Up, Bustle, and  Out. They mix electronica/dance with different world sounds better than anyone else IMHO.
I've always been a huge fan of Dave Van Ronk. A folk pioneer who took a young Robert Zimmerman under his wing. His raspy voice is a bit much for most people but he is a true master. I recommend searching out "That Song About the Midway" (Originally a Joni Mitchell song) from his "Sunday Street" album.
My wife loves polka, barbershop quartet, and Hawaiian music.

Up Bustle & Out are great! U,B & O . They've got this song, something about "silks, perfumes and gold" that just blows me away. Also like Kruder & Dorfmeister, Thievery Corp, Boozoo Bajou ("Night Over Manaus"), jazz... Cosmo Vitelli kills with "We don't need no Smurf"
