Hi Russ......Thought I'd carry this over to here. I sort of explained it in the Best Deals thread.
'I have spent the last week chipping off three layers of flooring in my kitchen. A layer of linoleum, and two layers of lino tile.' I guess the chems in the mastick for the lino tile (it was that really old fashioned stuff. Almost like an industrial tile) leeched into the concrete giving it a 'natural' stone look.
There are a couple patches where it is too 'unblemished' (for lack of a better word,. If you drag a popsicle stick across the bristles of an old toothbrush, it gives a nice splatter.... so I used an old toothbrush dipped in some bleach .....and then again in some old stain.
I'm going to use some concrete porch paint for the 'grout lines'. Then cover the whole thing with a couple coats of varathane.
