cool thanks.  I guess my family is a little different then because once a year my mom's jewish kids bring a bunch of hanaukkah food to class and we always have it for dinner.  Then again I get weird looks from people when I say I've shopped at an indi-paki store.  I don't see the big deal. When you open your world up to different cultures you don't become isolationist in your views.  My mom is kinda glad I'm like this, what I do is sort of against the public opinion of where I live.
People around here seem to think that if there is a mexican store for example only mexicans should go in it.  I think thats silly. But then again thats 'middle america' for you.

I'll admit though I get weird looks when I go shopping in these places.  They don't expect to see a white face and they have stared at me before in puzzlement.

I had chicken curry for lunch today. Nothing fancy... it wasn't the best as well.

Oh, and I'm having more ju-jubes.  My coworker bought them to work (a big bag from Costco) and these suckers are so addicting.

In New West, I always ask for the Big Mouth burger over at Venus Burgers.  It's actually a pub on 6th.  I can't remember the name of the pub.  They have some excellent burgers.  You oughta try it if you're ever in the New West area.

Russ

We usually go to the Thirsty Duck on 6th ave and 12th street. Its close to my buddies place and we can go back there and eat his cupboards bare.

venus burgers sounds familiar.. do you know burger haven? its in new west close to the columbia and royal ave area.

Yup, I know Burger Heaven.  I've eaten there.  I heard that it was very expensive.  I've heard of Thirsty Ducks.  I have yet to eat there.

Why do I bother posting to threads?

I am on for 30 minutes and then it's a couple days before I get back and by then 10 pages have come and passed?? Oh well. Thai food at a fantastic local place called My Thai. I had sauted eggplant and thai iced tea  *SCROMPH!!!*

Happy Friday!
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.

purelife

Hiya tenkani.  Are you feeling better these days?

Mmm...thai iced tea and food, sounds absolutely delicious.  Have you ever had szeuchuan?  Do you like it, if so?

tenkani

I'm feeling much better, thanks!    :)

I wish I could see your post so I would know how to spell schezzwuan.

I have had a couple of...schezzwuan dishes at some local chinese restaurants but I don't believe I've ever eaten at a place solely devoted to that style of cuisine. What are some characteristics of it? Yeah, I could look it up on wiki but I like your voice better    ;)

I hope it's a beautiful day in the great white north!!!

Glad to hear that you're feeling better, tenks.

Uhm, I don't know much about szeuchuan.  All I know is that it's spicey.  I think that I've had it once or twice, but can't recall.

tenkani

LOL. Haven't seen strange brew in a while but thanks for reminding me!  *adding to netflix queue*

Yeah, I vaguely remember scheschwuaane beef being spicy and full of yum. The problem with most chinese places around here is that they are a little bit vanilla. China has the widest variety of cuisine in the world but in places like this you tend to see the same safe dishes over and over.
