It was YUMMY, thank you Kitten.  I thought I wasn't going to be able to eat, after a finger licking, 'I get the beaters', 'I get the bowl' session. (no competition)

The Prime Rib was really really good, but fell short of excellance.  (jeez, what's with my spelling these days....I used to know by osmosis what was correct...but I'm losing it.  Excellence ???)

The Yorkshire WAS perfect...and the cake was heaven.  And apparently I even picked the right gift.

Nice top!
AND NICE FOODY DESCRIPTIONS!!!
*stomach growling*      :O

For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.

Awwww....I didn't mean to hit yer tummy tenk...just a follow up to a whole days prep for the perfect dinner.  (well, hubby's idea of the perfect dinner, anyway)

  Working late tonight ???

Have no clue what we're going to have for lunch but dinner is a riot! All-u-can-eat sushi! Yippe-kayye!

Heading to Sears today to pick up an exercise machine. I hate that sucker but my husband wants to get into shape. Like we have room in the house already. *grumble grumble*

Anyone bought an exercise machine before?

I used to have a rowing machine and an exercise bike, but I sold them.  It was so boring going nowhere that I lost all enthusiasm for them.  Walking is likely the best exercise there is.

There are SO many ways to stay in shape, without spending big bucks and taking up valuable living space.

There's only one thing I would suggest before purchasing any workout equipment.

Go to 30 garage sales......and I'd put money on it, that 29 of them have some form of equipment.

My point being....not to purchase this stuff at a garage sale, but to think about why so many people dump this stuff.

We used to have this cross country skiing machine. But now I just go to the gym.

How many miles do you walk each day?

kitten

I don't, since my sciatica got bad.  But I used to do a lot of walking at one time.  I never measured by miles, only blocks.  But I've walked from Burnaby to downtown Vancouver and back a few times, just for the fun of it.

I walked home once 15 miles in 20 F degree weather once in the snow after I got ejected from a basketball game. It was cold, really cold, especially when you are just in a tshirt and shorts. brr.

Yeah, that's what I thought about these machines at garage sales. I shoulda pushed him into going to garage sales as I'm sure tons of ppl put these suckers out.

Walking would have been nice but with the weather getting cold and getting darker earlier, it's hard to do it right now.

Oh well. Here's hoping he uses it more than once.

  Thanks for the input, y'all.

What machine are you thinking of getting Lise?  A bicycle?  Treadmill?

My mom got a bike years ago with the intention of "losing" weight.  She rode on it in the beginning for a few times and then, she lost motivation.  Now, it's just collecting dust.  What a waste of 200 and some dollars.

If I ever had the money and space, I would probably buy a high-powered treadmill, some weights and a bench.  So much can be done with weights and a skipping rope.

I'm sure you guys'll find something suitable.

P.C.

That's similar to how I'm thinking about that stuff, purelife.  I had a very expensive treadmill.....and I actually used it.  I just got sick of looking at it, sucking up space (rather unattractively, I might add) in whatever room I put it in.  Garage sale.....byebye.

Now I have a Tai-Bo DVD and some little quilted contraptions I made to hold some large cans of juice for weights and I have stairs and a great stereo (I love to dance....and if you 'give er' it's a good workout)...lol.  No space issue for my 'equipment'.

I'm active enough with splitting wood and maintaining the property, that the TaiBo DVD is gathering dust....but at least it doesn't take up valuable space, and it isn't an eyesore.

Oh TaiBo!  Cool, PC.  I haven't tried that yet, perhaps one day.  Yup, there sure is so much you could do with what you already have.

Yeah, treadmill does take up so MUCH room.  You kinda almost have to dedicate a den or bedroom just for fitness.

kingy

there are treadmills that fold flat which enables you to slide it under the bed. but once you slide it under the bed, it will probably never come out again if you are anything like me.
