 Valkyrie is about the plot to kill hitler. It failed and the leader of it was executed. The person who was executed is like a martyr/saint of German culture lore. (anybody that was executed for being against the Nazis is now). And Cruise is playing that character.
He was banned at first because Germany considers Scientology a cult. And under german religion laws. (everybody gets federal money jews, catholics, lutherans, muslims etc.), anyway he's deemed the official person of the 'religion'. And since its labeled a cult, leaders of cults aren't allowed in the country.

Something like that.
Anyway they decided he wasn't the official  spokesperson for the cult.  They made some deal.

nobody is going to make a movie about what happened to my family after the war. Heck the countries that did the genocide won't even acknowledge it happened. lol

almost. We were forced to leave our homes, we lost our citizenship of Hungary, lost our house, (some hungarian family moved in), and we were sent off to Russian gulags in Ukraine. Stateless and nobody gave a damn because we spoke german and therefore we were the enemy even though we hadn't lived in Germany for over 200 years.
My grandma got out after 4 years after the Soviets realized she was a US citizen. But they didn't close the camps until Stalin died which was in the mid 50's.
