It's a great sport, pl. It really helped my flexibility, core and memory/concentration. The main color belts are white, yellow, green, blue, red, and black- although there are "stripe" belts in between the levels (ie a yellow stripe is a white belt with yellow electrical tape worn on it...)
I only pay $43/month, which is a screaming deal because the 3rd member of the family is 50% off and I pre-paid for a year to receive a further discount. ("Goong Goong" pays for Heckyl and Jeckyl)
If you register during a promotional sale, most schools will give you the uniform for free. Further expenses could include testing fees and sparring gear- each school is different in this regard.
ADD: The World Tae Kwon Do (WTF) style is prefereable to the International Tae Kwon Do (ITF) imho, because WTF is "Olympic Style" with the competitive sparring rules. ITF is non-contact- choreographed playfighting, and what's the fun in that??! Mind you, I get totally bruised from sparring with guys who are double my size.
