Harper visited the U.S. today and you know who listened down here? Nobody. Canada is not Britian in America's eyes, when will Conservatives in Canada realise this.  This want closer relations.  Well I have a news flash for them, American general public and Washington could care less.  To many Conservatives down here that the Conservatives up there seem to adore with admiration, they think is some mullet wearing, hockey state. I'm not joking on that.  They precieve Canada as the 51st state. Wannabe Americans.  I don't hold that view but most of the general public does.  So why on Earth would the conservatives (in canada) want to get closer with washington.

Its going to end up in a bad way for the torries because they are the girl who is being taken advantage of by her bully boyfriend.  Canada will come out of this hurt, but yet she continually wants to come back.  This is an abusive relationship. And I guess the Torries (in Canada) like to be abused and taken advantage of. The best example would be Mulroney.  His love and admiration for Reagan resulted in the steal of the century in America's eyes: NAFTA.  And now Harper is again kissing up to Bush and Canada gets shafted by softwood lumber.

The american public only remembers one Canadian Prime Minister and that was Trudeau. But the first thing they say is that he had a beautiful wife.  Thats it, I'm not joking, the next coming of Jesus could be born in Canada and the Americans wouldn't know or take him seriously because he would have grown up in Canada.  They simply don't care.

So in an abusive relationship the woman needs to find other friends, well newsflash torries: You have something that the U.S. doesn't have and its not oil.  Canada has connections to the Asia- Pacific Rim and Europe that simply are not there in the United States.  And when I'm talking about looking in admiration at U.S. conservatives the typical response is "they are our biggest trading partner". Yes and they always will be but that doesn't mean you have to like them. As I said again Canada could become China's biggest trading partner if it wanted to.  In other words Canada can survive on its own and prosper without having to be America's lap dog.

I agree one hundred percent.

But don't think that we Canadians are not fully aware of what is going on.  We might not jump up and down and make a lot of noise, but if our Prime Minister decides on licking boots and comes away with nothing for it, he will not make it through another election.  Cretien scored huge points when he refused to be bullied into sending our forces to Iraq.  The majority of Canadians don't give a rat's ass what Joe Average US citizen thinks of us.  We love our country and with some forward thinking economic moves and politics, there's no reason the US should hold areas of our economy hostage.

And if the US tried to point the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" finger at Canada as an excuse to invade?

LOL  The world would be heard laughing as far away as Mars.  Everyone knows our strongest weapon is a combination of stale beer and moose piss in a super soaker with a range of 50 feet.

Exactly. I don't think Canadians know how much they are admired. The conservatives in BRITIAN! Want to strive to be like Canadians. (those are pretty much the exact words from the brittish tory leader david cameroon).  But instead of looking as this beacon to the world that the rest of the world sees Canada, Canada wants to become a second fiddle nation to a nation that does not care.

By the way, stale beer, please. Canadian beer is the only beer I drink. Got Moosehead in the frig.

Me neither, but I think if I adjusted the windage just a bit to the left I probably could.
The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.
