Ah, tenk.... it feels like old times when we were talking about Star Wars.
I thought Lady DeathStrike was intimate with Logan at one point. I guess I was wrong as well. She is his bitter enemy though.
Her story:
Yuriko Oyama's father was [A title="Lord Dark Wind" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Dark_Wind"]Lord Dark Wind[/A] (Kenji Oyama), a [A title=Japan href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan"]Japanese[/A] crime lord and criminal [A title=Scientist href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientist"]scientist[/A] who created the process by which [A title="Adamantium (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adamantium_%28comics%29"]adamantium[/A] can be bonded to bone. Kenji was a former Japanese [A title=Kamikaze href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamikaze"]kamikaze[/A] pilot during [A title="World War II" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II"]World War II[/A]. His face was horribly scarred in a failed suicide attack on an American battleship. Feeling shamed by his failure decades earlier, he scarred the faces of Yuriko and her two brothers in a ritual design. Her two brothers would later die while in the service of their father.
Yuriko teamed up with Daredevil to free her lover, Kiro, from her father's servitude, and to gain vengeance for her scarring and the death of her two brothers; when Yuriko slew her father (just as he was about to kill Daredevil), the devoted Kiro chose [A title=Suicide href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide"]suicide[/A] to honor his master.
Distraught, Yuriko belatedly embraced her father's ideals and sought to track down whoever dishonored him. Her trail led to [A title="Wolverine (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine_%28comics%29"]Wolverine[/A], whose skeleton had been bonded with adamantium. Deathstrike sought to kill him to right the wrong of the theft and thus restore her family's honor, but she was defeated by [A title=Vindicator href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vindicator"]Vindicator[/A] of [A title="Alpha Flight" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Flight"]Alpha Flight[/A]. Yuriko then went to the [A title=Mojoverse href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojoverse"]Mojoverse[/A] and [A title="Spiral (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_%28comics%29"]Spiral[/A]'s "body shoppe" where she received extensive cybernetic enhancements including adamantium bones and talons.
Lady Deathstrike was once a member of the team of criminal cyborgs called the [A title="Reavers (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reavers_%28comics%29"]Reavers[/A], led by [A title="Donald Pierce" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Pierce"]Donald Pierce[/A], who once managed to successfully defeat the [A title=X-Men href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men"]X-Men[/A]. The Reavers have since been annihilated by the [A title="Sentinels (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinels_%28comics%29"]Sentinels[/A], and Yuriko has been operating independently.
At times she has resigned her quest to kill Logan and has even worked with the X-Men cooperatively toward a common goal as she did in X-Men Annual 2000. (In this case the goal was to defeat [A title=Stryfe href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryfe"]Stryfe[/A]). However she still remains a [A title=Mercenary href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercenary"]mercenary[/A] and [A title=Assassin href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin"]assassin[/A]. Despite all this, Yuriko is set apart from many of the X-Men's foes in that she adheres to an [A title="Honor code" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_code"]honor code[/A], despite being emotionally disturbed.
Deathstrike is possibly responsible for the near-death of [A title=Sunfire href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunfire"]Sunfire[/A], whose legs she severed in battle. Dying, he had [A title="Rogue (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_%28comics%29"]Rogue[/A] absorb his powers so she could battle Deathstrike. The X-Men later went to see where Sunfire's body had been left, only to see it had disappeared. He later resurfaced as one of the new Horsemen of [A title="Apocalypse (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalypse_%28comics%29"]Apocalypse[/A].
