Somewhere on the board I read that it was common to wear diamonds during the day, does this also apply to emeralds?
Title: Re: The Etiquette and Decorous Comportment Thread
Post by: P.C. on Jul 11 08 12:03
lol.  Are you swimming in emeralds ShyT ?  I think you can wear them whenever you like...as long as you are respectful of the situation.  For instance, going to a charity function to raise money for the homeless, while dripping in diamonds might be considered poor taste and highly hypocritical whether it's the day time or the evening. (emeralds too)

Is it unbecoming for a woman to run around sans brassiere, if there is an outline of  "headlights" showing through a t-shirt?

Ok.  Will tell the elderly relatives to wear foundation garments and will ask the advice of a woman next time.  Mr Saw- better stop looking at the shirts before you get in trouble!

Cough to cover up the sound?

Employ the "crop duster" method and keep walking, whilst emitting the sound of a backfiring tractor.

Why do some people think it's polite to stick out gtheir little finger whilst drinking tea or coffee (from a cup, of course)?

Could this strategem also be employed should one wish to fart politely?

There's asbestos to be removed, which is hilarious, my old house has asbestos, I'm still alive...
And the wall paper is crumbling and she's worried about how her guests will feel. The palace hasn't been updated since the 50s.
And Buckingham apparently looks really cheesy inside. Why does she care anyway, they spend most of their time in at their place in Scotland.

Turn it in a museum, make the Queen live in East London.

Speaking of politics, I just saw for the first time in my life a Democratic Party candidate ad for my congressional district. Hilarious. If Democrats win here, in the most conservative district in Missouri, its the end of the world.

This reminds me of a time I was stuck in a washroom stall, that had no toilet paper.  There was nobody else in there, so I was trying to catch the attention of anybody who might be walking by.  I felt rather foolish yelling at the top of my lungs whilst sitting on the throne.  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/liebe/g038.gif[/img]

I yelled for quite some time to no avail.  I finally ripped the lining out of my brand new purse. (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/10.gif)

Well, I know this sounds strange, but in my backpack which I always travel with (think airports in africa), I carry those travel wet wipes.. Like in this instance you never know when you will find no TP. I insist that Starfishie has a pack in her purse for emergencies.

If I have to do it again today, I just use my underwear.  A package of 10 Costco's Kirklands brand briefs cost under $10

lets see now

anyone you have known intimately or for more than 1 year or some one your completely comfortable farting out loud in the presence of means they are impolite company... so pretty much any topic is fine to talk to them about... soo that would mean ...

anyone you do not know intimately or someone who is new to you. would have to be considered polite company

I hope that helps when next u decide to discuss your ribald party days and the time you threw up all over the neighbors cat...

lol I think so.
My mom bakes a ton of fruitcake every Nov, soaks it in booze and gives it away at Xmas.  It costs a bloody fortune to make it these days (brandy, rum, fruits, nuts, cement) so she gives it away pretty carefully- to dedicated fruicake fans only (I'm not one of them!).  British people love it.

ummm i'm not British but my parents are and i like fruit cake but neither of my parents do...

however the whole family loves mincemeat pies and the Christmas puddings yummy... those always dissapeared fast...

if it is a fruit cake and gopher doesn't want his... i will accept it gladly and will probably enjoy every last bite...

whats wrong with fruit cakes ?  i just dont understand

why do so many people hate them so much ?

I fail to see it... i find them delicious (most of the time. i grant you i have had bad ones b4 not everyone can bake well) . i'm not a big fan of the ones with nuts but most of the vanilla ones with lemon icing and all the mixed fruits inside are fantastically yummy ...

so please explain to me why are they Ick or as some others say gross or ( *sick* )

I think they are all of the above. Ick, gross and *sick*.

I would say that my dislike of fruitcake goes beyond dislike.  It's bordering on a phobia.  Ya....that's it....fruitacakeaphobia.  It also goes beyond the icky taste....it doesn't even look attractive.

It's the texture of all that weird candied fruit that bears no resemblance to any fruit that is of this world.  Did I mention that it's gross ?

I have a recipe for a less expensive 'no bake' fruitcake, that will save you time and money, and possibly the loss of a few friends.  Skip the fruit, don't bother with the flour and butter, drink the rum and call it a day.

    Ick.

"Scary underwear" are those that goes up to your belly almost to your waist, kind of like the ones worn in the movie, Bridget Jones' Diary.
