Cashews are not really nuts and are the only 'nut' not sold in the shell because the covering of the cashew is highly toxic. (it's used to make varnish)  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/c025.gif" border=0]

Oh yes...very lovely.

She and Brad Pitt were living together on this beautiful house that sat on water.  Brad was trying to fix the internet modem cable and was all over the house.  The interior of the house was white, absolutely no dirt on the walls, very serene and calm.  Angelina was in this beautiful white gown and she was talking to me.  She was giving me advice about life and about her life and my life...she was talking to me like she was my best friend or  something.

(that was a true dream of mine. )

sorry to make you aware... go back to your ignorance...

Cochineal
(http://i9.tinypic.com/2rqfsie.gif)

Cochineal is the name of both crimson or carmine dye and the cochineal insect (Dactylopius coccus), a scale insect in the suborder Sternorrhyncha, from which the dye is derived. There are other species in the genus Dactylopius which can be used to produce cochineal extract, but they are extremely difficult to distinguish from D. coccus, even for expert taxonomists, and the latter scientific name (and the use of the term "cochineal insect") is therefore commonly used when one is actually referring to other biological species; suffice it to say that the reader should be aware that there is more than one cochineal insect. The primary biological distinctions between species are minor differences in host plant preferences, in addition to very different geographic distributions. D. coccus itself is native to tropical and subtropical South America and Mexico.

This type of insect, a primarily sessile parasite, lives on cacti from the genus Opuntia, feeding on moisture and nutrients in the cacti. The insect produces carminic acid to deter predation by other insects. Carminic acid can be extracted from the insect's body and eggs to make the dye. Cochineal is primarily used as a food colouring and for cosmetics.

After synthetic pigments and dyes such as alizarin were invented in the late 19th century, natural-dye production gradually diminished. However, current health concerns over artificial food additives have renewed the popularity of cochineal dyes, and the increased demand has made cultivation of the insect profitable again

Vancouver Forum Rules

   1. No Racism, No Threatening, No (citing) Victimization (via PM) or Hateful posts / Retaliation of any kind against a member, or group of members. Hateful post will NOT be tolerated. Any Racist or Threatening posts will result in the suspension of the user account. Don't test your limit.

Additional: A hate/bias crime is a criminal [span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"]offence[/span] [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"](should be spelled offense)[/span] committed against a person or property which is motivated by the suspects hate, prejudice or bias against an identifiable group based on race, national or ethnic origin, language, colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation or any other similar factor. A hate propaganda [span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);"]offence[/span] [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"](should be spelled offense)[/span] is where the offender advocates genocide, or publicly communicates hatred of any identifiable group.
   2. No Cursing or Swear words in the Forums. We encourage you to use our forum to debate topics, but please use proper adjectives to express yourself. We do not tolerate circumvention of our word filter or abuse upon another member.
   3. No Warez (links) & Cracks, help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to software, posting about it, and suggesting to get it.
   4. No Nudity or Pornographic Material, graphic or otherwise. This includes sick jokes & bad language. Any displayed images or links to such content will not be tolerated.

Additional: [span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);"]Bodypaint[/span] [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"]( i believe body-paint is supposed to hyphenated or 2 words)[/span] is not the same as clothing. These images will also be removed.
   5. No posting of personal information about other posters without their consent. This includes email addresses, real names, IPs etc. Posting of personal information without consent will not be tolerated.
   6. Disrespect of any Moderator will NOT be accepted. They are here to create an enjoyable time for you and other Discover Vancouver members. Treat them with the respect they deserve. Failure to follow this rule may result in your removal from the website.
   7. No spamming. Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic. Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.
   8. If you are a long standing member, act like one. Lead by example and assist other newer members rather then attacking them. We look upon our veteran members to use this opportunity to teach the newer members the appropriate way to use the message boards.
   9. If you are removed from the forum, and return under a new IP, you risk losing all [span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);"]Discouver[/span] [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"]( note they spelled discover wrong) [/span]Vancouver site privileges. You were removed for a reason (violation of one or more of the listed rules), so please use your time to review the rules, so that you can better follow them when you're allowed to return.
  10. No non-Discover Vancouver affiliate or referral links, please. We know everyone (including [span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);"]ouselves[/span]) [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"]( they forgot the r in ourselves )[/span] likes to make a little extra money. Unfortunately, we have to draw a hard line on this; otherwise, SPAM could quickly overrun the boards. If you have any questions about what an affiliate link is, or if you're not sure you should post something, or if you see any other affiliate/referral links, please ask an admin or moderator so that we can take care of it.
  11. Enjoy yourself. The board is intended for members to interact. [span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 102);"]Discouver[/span] [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"]( again they spelled discover wrong)[/span] Vancouver Forums were created to talk about Vancouver. You can have a great time posting and we look forward to your feedback.[/td][/tr][/tbody][/table][/td][/tr][/tbody][/table]

Considering who wrote the rules, it's surprising there weren't more spelling or grammatical errors.  (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/12.gif)

I'm guessing Mike can't spell unless it involves money.

Allright!  Well then...  Good work, ladies & gentlemen.  It is apparent that some people are still somewhat intelligent!

Hey....I like that symbol in you avatar.  Is it referring to engines or juice.
Title: Re: Tell me something I didn't know...

Why thank you, P.C.  Seeing as how all the good avatars were already taken, it's the best I could come up with without wasting too much time.  It's a Ford design, which refers to engine type.  They're using it again on their vehicles, but it actually dates back to the 1940's, I believe.  That 'old school' stuff sort of interests me.  You know, another place, another time...

It's really a classy design.  I guess it was actually placed ON the vehicle?  (I wonder if they have a V4.....lol)

Yup, the grille was usually a popular place for emblems like that on the old cars.  That's so your neighbour knew that your car was better then his!  See, not much has changed...  BTW, I double checked, and the design actually originated in the 1930's.  Next time I'll do my homework first!

Ahhhh....so this would have belonged to Mr. Jones.

So now you've told me something I didn't know.
Title: Re: Tell me something I didn't know...
Post by: WS on Mar 31 07 06:44
Exactly.  But when Mr. Jones didn't keep it locked up, along came Bonnie & Clyde.  It was their stolen car of choice.  They even wrote a letter to Ford praising the virtues of 'owning' such a fine car...

GET OUT !!!!!   Really ???

Wow....some people got more nerve than virtue.

So tell me something more I didn't know.  (shouldn't be terribly hard...lol)

    *edit.....nice average WS.  4 posts.....4 karmas  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c014.gif" border=0]

Mr. Henry Ford
Detroit Mich.

Dear Sir:-
While I still have got breath in my lungs I will tell you what a dandy car you make.  I have drove Fords exclusively when I could get away with one.  For sustained speed and freedom from trouble the Ford has got every other car skinned and even if my business hasen't been strictly legal it don't hurt anything to tell you what a fine car you got in the V8.
    Yours truly
    Clyde Champion Barrow

I pulled up the letter.  Of course my Ford only has four cylinders, as I can't justify spending substantial amounts of my earnings fueling up.

I'll tell ya something else I know.  There's certain individuals that take Web Forums far too seriously.  It's as if there's an underlying mental illness that's the root cause of their strange behaviour.  Borderline Personality Disorder, perhaps?  Usually they get banned sooner or later, but it's almost interesting to catch an inner glimpse of the methods of their madness while the opportunity presents itself.

To me they just seem irrational and annoying when they try to create dissention.
