Title: A furry death in the family
Post by: tenkani on Feb 13 07 02:51
My father's cat died.
I grew up with the little furry beast and it makes me sad.
She was around 18 years old.

I know, starting a thread about it seems silly, but I wanted her to have a little memorial or something. I'm at work but I will post her pic when I get a chance.

Her name was Kimiko but her friends called her Kimi.

When she was a kitten my dad accidentaly slammed her little head in a door and she was a bit freaky after that. You had to move just a little bit slow around her or she might run off. As she became an old and elegant lady she calmed down and was much more easy going.

She used to drool sometimes when people petted her.

She was my friend   *sniffle*

Oh tenk. So sad to hear about that. At least... she's gone on to Cat Heaven. We will always have a special place in our hearts for our pets.

Aww Tenkani,

My heart goes out to you.  I remember you telling me about Kimiko.

I remember you showed me her pic, she looked like a very special cat.

She lived to be an old lady.  :)

Awwww.  So sorry tenkani.  It's never easy to lose our pets, but losing the ones we grew up with seems to be just a little harder.  They are 'forever friends'.

oh gawd I don't want to think of Ozzie going... Truth is Angel was a bit of a pain but dang Ozzie helped me through depression when I was younger.  Dog was always happy.

We had a family dog. His name was Caesar and lived about 16 years.

It is sad when they go, but wow! What an awesome and full life.

I had a kitten named Tinkerbell when I was very young, she was an all white cat with gray markings on the top of her head only, so it looked like a cap, then she grew up and had a litter of kittens in 1986 & I got to pick one kitten out of the litter to keep!  She was a calico cat just like her calico cat daddy I seen somewhere in the neighbourhood, lol, but she had the most precious colouring and a racoon striped tail.  She was very neat looking and then she passed away of old age a few years ago.  We didn't get to see her leave, she just left one day, I suppose she found a quiet place to....go to sleep.  I hope that's what happened, because I grew up across the street from a forest and beside a horses field, so I hope the coyotes didn't get her, but she was old. 18 years in human years.

Thank you guys for sharing stories of your own furry friends.
There is no such thing as "just a cat" or "just a dog".
They are family.

Sorry to hear about your loss. People who say that it's just a cat or dog are ignorant and in sensitive. They are our fur kids. Take care.

wow tenkani's cat was almost my age.
If Tigger lives to be 18 or 20 wow I'll be almost forty years old. (//forums/richedit/smileys/Shocked/1.gif)

That could easily happen.
I think the oldest cat ever was over 30 when it died if I remember correctly!
Good health to Tigger     :)
