Does anyone know if the weather has been cold enough, long enough, to have made an impact on the Pine Beetles ?

This is ultimately the most exciting thing ever.  I am surprised to have found myself inexplicably on the edge of tears several times while watching this historical event.  It all just feels so powerful.

[P class=first]A US man divorcing his wife is demanding that she return the kidney he donated to her or pay him $1.5m (£1m) in compensation.  Dr Richard Batista told reporters that he decided to go public because he was frustrated at the slow pace of divorce negotiations with his estranged wife.

Discover Seattle! / Hard to Watch

I had to post this, because it is SO amazing.  It's really hard to watch, but if you can hang in until the end, it will warm your heart unbelievably.  I have never seen anything like this before.

I am so sad for this man and at the same time so humbled by his enormous heart. Yoon Dong-Yun, the man who lost his family in the F18 crash in San Diego brings me to tears every time I hear his words of forgiveness.  I just want to hug him.

  [A href="http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5heXRzR6k2zySaLAALPom8YN-j_ww"]http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5heXRzR6k2zySaLAALPom8YN-j_ww[/A]

Choking back tears, a distraught Yoon said he did not blame the pilot, who ejected safely after failing in desperate attempts to direct his stricken craft away from the densely populated residential neighborhood.

"I don't want him to suffer from this accident," Yoon told reporters. "I know he's one of our treasures for the country. And I don't blame him, I don't have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could.

"I want to thank all the people who are praying for me and my family and all the people who helped to find my family.

"Right now, I don't know how I feel. But I know there are many people who have experience of terrible things. Please tell me how to do it, because I don't know what to do."

Has anybody seen this doll that has everyones knickers in a knot ?  It's so ridiculous.  These dolls are reported by these crazy people as saying "Islam is the light" and "Satan is King".

They took the doll to the streets, and ALL of the people who were asked to tell what the doll was saying, could not understand ANY of the baby babble.  When TOLD what the doll was supposedly saying, ALL agreed the doll should be taken off the market.  But not UNTIL they were told.  Mental.

I thought he would get much longer.  33 years with chance of parole in 9 years.  It was great to see the swagger taken out of him.  I loved the judges comments....."I wasn't sure if you were ignorant or arrogant....but through the course of this trial, you answered my question.  You're both"

Lil Me.....unless my memory is worse than I thought, I have a vague recollection of you posting something about a place that has good prices on silk. ?????

I just read 38 pages in the Best Deals thread and the Budget Tips thread....nothing about silk.

Anyways, I need some, and our local Fabricland has only a limited colour selection. Which is a bummer, because they had the dupioni silk on for 50% off, which is exactly the silk I'm looking for.

Does anybody ever get that little twittery twitch in their eyelid or eyebrow ?

What the heck is that ?  What causes it and what makes it go away without gouging one's own eyes out.

I always get in a good mood when everything is tidy.  I can't say I enjoy the process of getting to that point....but it seems to put me into a state of calm contentment when everything is clean.

I'm curious to know how the percentage of what they make off the sale of a home is distributed.  I mean, it's a HUGE amount.  Add onto that the Property Transfer Tax, and it's ridiculous.  On a $400K sale, you're looking at 22,000 BUCKS !!!!  Sheesh !!!

OK....I haven't thought this through yet...but a friend asked me what I thought about her idea for Christmas presents for her granddaughter.......  She said that she was thinking of wrapping up some 'house treasures'....  (special things she has kept for years).  I'm not sure about this....and yet there is something kinda cool about it.  I think I may have poo-pood the idea too quickly.

  Thoughts ?

This is utterly amazing.  I can't even imagine what this could mean for so many people.

OTTAWA - American military researchers say they have unlocked the secret to regrowing limbs and recreating organs in humans who have sustained major injuries.

Using "nanoscaffolding," the researchers have regrown a man's fingertip and the internal organs of several test subjects.

The technology works by placing a very fine apparatus called a scaffold, which is made of polymer fibres hundreds of times finer than a human hair, in place of a missing limb or damaged organ. The scaffold acts as a guide for cells to grab onto so they can begin to rebuild missing bones and tissue. The tissue grows through tiny holes in the scaffold, in the same way a vine snakes its way up a trellis.

I go through this every time I face this situation.  This should be the last time, as there is only one room left in my house with enamel paint.

The confusion is.....I know I can't paint latex over enamel without a primer/sealer.  But now I don't know if I can use latex primer over the oil.

I have a can of Prestige Primer Sealer, Latex Acrylic Paint.  On the can it says....Adheres to Latex AND OIL BASED PAINTS.

So to make double sure, I went to the Prestige paint website, where in their 'Expert Advice' section, they say (after some intstructions on how to determine whether the existing paint is oil or latex)......"........if the paint doesn't come off, it's oil-based, and a pre-coat of oil-based primer is a must"

What to do, what to do.

I have to say, I was a little surprised, but I misted up a little.
