Those counters and stats help make this an addictive new site to post on. I feel a serious temporary obsession fomenting.

I bet a fly on the wall at Jacko's place could tell of some bizarre self hatred meltdowns beating up on himself.

I like Monterey except that it's dripping with rich people. But it's very beautiful and Laguna Seca is there.

Tenkani your avatar/quote combination is nothing short of genius.

How 'bout some bacon?

The Pacific NW has it's own flavor and lifestyle found nowhere else in North America. I've been all over the US and I would always come back to live around here. Seattle, Portland, Vancouver BC, and San Francisco (I know that's stretching it a bit for Pacific NW) all seem like variations on a theme and all have great things about them.[/DIV]Without starting a geographic flame war, which city is your favorite and why? If price was no object where would you most want to live? What spots should west coast travellers check out in your city?If I had my druthers I'd be living in a spiffed out flat right in downtown Vancouver. Although Portland is a great (and still affordable) for a lot of the same reasons I like Vancouver-lots of natural beauty and close proximity to nature, progressive, laid back.

OMG it is real isn't it? I guess living in SimCity is better than a tin shack.

Fantastic news! I hope it bears out.[/DIV]Not to rip on Mormonism but it would be kind of ironic if a cure for AIDS came out of BYU. Not the first institution that would come mind to find a cure. But good on him for doing it.If this works it'll be a bit of a circus watching the religious right media response to such a cure. Their oppostion to a cervical cancer prevention showed their true colors. They are more worried about what people do in their own bedrooms than with saving lives.

Asimov is indeed a terrific writer capable of bringing high end concepts down to earth. One story of his that sticks out for me is when he was playing bridge with some pals and one complained that they seemed to be getting the same cards over and over. So off he went to do the math and found that they could play a million hands and second for a billion years (or something like that) and they would never get the same hand twice. Factorials are to blame I believe. To find the number of possible combinations in a deck of cards you would multiply 52 x 51 x 50 x 49 etc...[/DIV]That is also my favorite math symbol, the exclamation point. 52!

It was total fun about a year ago. It turned me on to the whole message board concept, and what fun it could be. I can't believe how long I'd sit (paying) at our local internet cafe to just read and post on it.[/DIV]It figures that now that I finally have DSL at home and a rad computer that DV is such a cesspool.

First registered post and it's top?[/DIV]WOW...

This health care situation is truly legalized extortion. My wife and I live in (financial) fear of catastrophic illness. So we cough up $600 a month to keep insurance which is ridiculous since we hardly ever go to the doctor and stay in decent shape. It really snaps the issue into focus when you actually pay the insurance bill out of pocket rather than see some numbers on a pay stub.[/DIV]Admin you are a hero for dealing with all that and this awesome new board.

I do agree. Keeping something permanent definately keeps you thinking more about what you post before you post it. And we should all do our best to keep this place the anti-DV, and keep it lively and comfortable.  [/DIV]I didn't even know that was a feature here.

I was just checking out the stats page. Nice work. Tenkani will have to post mightily.[/DIV]Stats is a way cool option for this board. I'm into it.

Damn Sportsdude! The right side of my screen just says sportsdudesportsdudesportsdude...[/DIV]You have been at it a while. I salute you. I'm planning a big sit around and stare at the internet bender this weekend since the wife and kids'll be out of town.
