Funnier than...well, funnier than the real Cosby show! "Must See TV", only for real:

[a href="http://www.waxy.org/random/video/cosbys/house_of_cosbys_1_high.mov"]http://www.waxy.org/random/video/cosbys/house_of_cosbys_1_high.mov[/a]

In the video, a Bill Cosby fan clones the comedian several times, and each Cosby comes out more degraded than the last. It's clearly parody and clearly fair use, but the originators of the series shut down their effort when Bill Cosby's lawyers threatened them. But now it's back up. God-Damn-Funny.

No wonder Bush is turning a deaf  ear to the concerns expressed by Democrats and Repulicans.[blockquote]President Bush's family and members of the Bush administration have long-standing business connections with the UAE...Bush defying his very own party leadership and his party in defendingt he Dubai port deal... Supposedly true but I can't swear to it. Forwarded from a friend. [hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"]Jury Rigged - I checked with Snopes to verify authenticity....it is
true.

Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough
people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam
has surfaced.  Fall for it and your identity could be stolen, reports
CBS News.

In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who
threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you
didn't show up for jury duty.  The caller claims to be a jury
coordinator.   If you protest that you never received a summons for jury
duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of
birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest
warrant. Sometimes they even ask for credit card numbers. Give out any
of this information and bingo!  Your identity just got stolen.  The scam
has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, and
Colorado. This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use
intimidation over the phone to try and bully people into giving
information by pretending they're with the court system.
The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on
their websites, warning consumers about the fraud.

Check it out here:

Words of incredible brilliance from stoner Paula Abdul on last night's American Idol show:

[font class="headline"][font class="bodyFont"] "What did you tell me Simon?" she said, slurring her words. "What did you tell me? Simon gave me advice and said on "The X Factor" he always refers to a fortune cookie and says the moth who finds the melon - (laugher) - finds the corn flake always finds the melon and one of you didn't pick the right fortune."

WTF???

(No, I don't watch American Idol, this was a news tidbit I found this morning.)

Discover Seattle! / Totaled Out

The insurance company is going to total out my RAV4. Damn, I only had the thing like 6 weeks before that drunken, uninsured nimrod slammed into me. I'm waiting to hear back as to what they're going to pay me for it, but it better be close to what I paid for it.

Now I have to start all over again, looking for another vehicle. Maybe I should just take the payout and plow some of it into fixing up my Jeep.

R.I.P.

I have to admit, this just makes me laugh. A pimp ("Big Pimpin' Daddy") is suing his clients "because they got him in trouble". LOL. Like he had nooooooo idea what was going on with the girls. I mean, after all, he was only their pimp. How would he know they wewre having sex with the clients? This is really funny to listen to the attorney try to deny that this was a prostitution business. It's like"Big Pimpin' Daddy" had no idea he was running a prostitution ring. (For the record, I have no problem with prositution or pay-for-sex arrangements. I think it should be legal.)
[hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"]'Big Pimpin' Pappy' sues clients for legal woes[h2]Does the infamous Florida escort owner have a case?[/h2][em]Big Pimpin Pappy' was once on top of the pimping world.   By one estimation, he controlled 90 percent of the escort business in Florida's Broward County.   Then he was arrested, sent to prison and then eventually deported back to his home country the Netherlands.

Now he wants someone to pay for this trouble, namely the very customers who made him rich. 'Big Pimpin Pappy' is suing the johns who is he said broke the law and led to his arrest.

Montgomery Sibley, attorney for 'Big Pimpin Pappy' who is otherwise known as Arthur Vanmoore, joined 'The Situation' Wednesday to explain his client's case.

[/em][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]TUCKER CARLSON, HOST, 'SITUATION':  So 'Big Pimpin Pappy''s contention is it's the johns who is broke the law, not him.  How does that work?  [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]MONTGOMERY SIBLEY, ATTORNEY:  Well, when customers of the  dating service agree to pay for the service, they... [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]CARLSON:  Wait, what's the service, by the way?  [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]SIBLEY:  The service is having some time with an attractive woman.   [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]CARLSON:  OK.  Having sex with an attractive woman, correct? [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]SIBLEY: That is not correct. This is an escort service.  This isn't women walking on the street, showing their wares and negotiating through car windows.  This is an out-call service that only goes to name brand hotels or people's houses and nowhere else. [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]Andwhen they give their credit  cards, their thumbprint and their driver's license ID, prior to the meeting being   arranged, they ultimately sign   a piece of paper, with the  credit card slip, and that piece of paper under oath promises they won't engage in illegal  activity.   [/p]CARLSON:  But this was a prostitution ring, as you're aware, everyone is aware.   The BrowardCounty sheriff's office found a piece of paper in your client's office that had rules for the  prostitute who is worked for   him.  Some that were quite explicitly sexual, as you know. This guy was a pimp.  I am not attacking him for that.   But are you honestly pretending  he didn't know he was in the prostitution business?  [p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]SIBLEY: Well, I'm drawing the line before he was arrested, Tucker, and then after he was arrested and was cleaning up the business.  And the pre-arrest stuff is in the history that's gone.[/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]We're talking after his arrest   in June 2003 and the business changed remarkably after that.  [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]CARLSON: So why would people pay just to spend time with an attractive woman?  Pay a lot, by the way.  This was an expensive service just to sit and talk, about, say current events or sports?[/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]Imean, is your contention really—this guy, your client, 'Big Pimpin Pappy' believed men were paying just to kind out hang out with women and he's shocked to learn  that some intended to have sex with these girls?  [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]SIBLEY: Well, in fact, Tucker that is exactly what the business is. If they want to have illegal sex with prostitutes, they can go down on the street.  If they want to have quality time with a quality woman, that  is what they call an escort  service for.  [/p][p class="textBodyBlack"][span id="byLine"][/span]CARLSON: You sound like you took down on these men.   That they would somehow get the idea that just because you call an escort service, you found in the yellow pages and have a girl in a tube top and a vinyl skirt come over to your hotel room that somehow they got the  idea sex was involved. You sound like you're unimpressed with their judgment.
[/p][hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"][font style="background-color: rgb(160, 255, 64); color: rgb(0, 128, 255);" size="7"]LOL!!!!!![/font][p class="textBodyBlack"] [/p]

Very weird, but definitely cool to watch!
http://www.peter-william-holden.com/installations/autogene/autogene_mov.html
[h3]Autogene mechanical umbrella performance        [/h3]Installation artist Peter William Holden built a cool machine consisting of eight umbrellas that "dance" to "Singin' In The Rain." The video of the mechanical performance is terrific. From Holden's description of the work:[img]http://www.boingboing.net/images/umbrella.jpg" alt="Umbrella" align="left" border="1" height="200" hspace="4" vspace="4" width="287"] Busby Berkeley choreographed dancers to mimic the motions of machines and modern inventions. "AutoGene" is the flipside of this. It's a simple aesthetic looking robot composed of eight modified umbrellas mounted in a circular pattern. A cocktail of air hoses and electrical cables join these umbrellas to a central computer which enables "AutoGene" to produce a choreographed dance to music which replaces the machine's mechanical qualities and transforms the mundane umbrellas into near-magical animated objects.

Gomez, 38, was being held in the St. Johns County Jail Wednesday on $15,000 bond on charges of possession of an illegal narcotic within 1,000 feet of a church and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gomez was showing off his OnStar system to his girlfriend, but the volume was set so low that he couldn't hear the OnStar operator. OnStar comes on many new General Motors vehicles and allows a customer to contact an OnStar representative in an emergency or to get directions.  If there is no response, OnStar contacts police.

That's what happened with Gomez on Friday night, Tom Clements, a spokesman for the St. Augustine Police Department, said Wednesday. When police located Gomez' car, they determined there was no problem. But Clements said cocaine was clearly visible on the car's center console.

In addition to seizing $1,900 in the case, the Cadillac equipped  with the OnStar system was also seized, Clements said. There was no information available from Clements or the jail on  whether Gomez has a lawyer.

I've always liked this one, but I don't know who said it:

Shock Absorber, a UK line of sports-bras, has a Flash-based boobies-physics simulator. Plug in a cup-size and a level of activity, and it produces a 3D animation of breasts of that size bouncing free, bouncing in a regular bra, and hardly moving at all in one of their sports-bras. Extra geeky bonus points for including a 3D wire frameview, so you can see the pure physics of the jiggle. [a href="http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/bounceometer/shock.html"]And here's the link[/a]

CBS is suing Howard Stern for promoting his show while still at CBS. I don't think CBS would give a damn except that they've supposedly experienced a huge ratings drop when Stern moved to the Sirius satellitte radio network. I bet this will be an entertaining court case.

(I don't listen to Howard Stern, just in case you're wondering. I never found his show to be interesting but apparently a lot of people do.)

Finally, a little common sense in an unexpected place- the Utah House of Representatives.
[hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"]Anti-Darwin Bill Fails in Utah

By KIRK JOHNSON
(story [a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/28/national/28utah.html?_r=1&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin"]here[/a])

In a defeat for critics of Darwin, the Utah House of Representatives on Monday voted down a bill intended to challenge the theory of evolution in high school science classes.

The bill had been viewed nationally, by people on each side of the science education debate, as an important proposal because Utah is such a conservative state, with a Legislature dominated by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

But the bill died on a 46-to-28 vote in the Republican-controlled House after being amended by the majority whip, Stephen H. Urquhart, a Mormon who said he thought God did not have an argument with science. The amendment stripped out most of the bill's language, leaving only that the state board of education "shall establish curriculum requirements relating to scientific instruction."

Legislative officials said the bill was not likely to be revived before the scheduled adjournment of the Legislature on Wednesday. The Origins of Life bill, in its initial form, would have required teachers to issue a disclaimer to their students saying that not all scientists agree about evolution and the origin of species. It did not mention any alternative theory to Darwinism, but was viewed by some supporters and opponents as part of the drive to encourage the teaching of intelligent design, which says that life is too complicated to have evolved without an architect.

Along the lines of "favorite word", what's your favorite sound?

I've always liked the sound of ice cubes in a glass. I don't know why, it's just a nice sound.

[hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"][a href="http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/27/news/newsmakers/lay/index.htm"]Report says Ken Lay is going broke[/a]

According to an article, the former Enron CEO is no longer a millionaire and may file for bankruptcy.

NEWYORK (CNNMoney.com) - Former Enron Chairman and CEO Ken Lay has seen his personal fortune eaten away by the collapse of the energy trader and his legal problems, and he could be forced to file for bankruptcy protection, according to a published report.

The New York Times reported that Lay's stated net worth is now less than $650,000, down from as much as $400 million before Enron's downfall in 2001.
[hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"]
So, lets recap: Ken Lay has more money than most Americans will ever see in their entire lifetime, and he may decide to file for bankruptcy. He can do that even while he's charged with multiple felonies related to the largest accounting fraud in the history of finance.  That's the law.

If you or I get sick, however, and rack up a debt of, say, a measily $100,000 in medical bills, we cannot file for  bankruptcy. Medical debt is no longer legal grounds to file bankruptcy in the United States. That would be wrong, see? Wrong, wrong, wrong. Don't ask me why.

So, the moral of the story (near as I can tell) is "Crime Pays."

Man registers .345 blood-alcohol level

Michael Ferraresi
Feb. 27, 2006 02:21 PM

SCOTTSDALE - His blood-alcohol level was so high that it had the effects that experts say is near surgical anesthesia. Peter Hickock was passed out at his home in Scottsdale on Sunday when his 5-year-old daughter called 911.

Hickock could face child endangerment charges, Scottsdale police said.

Hickock, 40, was found unconscious and bleeding in the 7600 block of East Williams Drive, near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads. He was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Shea with a 0.345 percent blood-alcohol content, police said. At .35 coma is possible

Emergency responders found the only food in the house was peanut butter and bread. The 5-year-old's mother was on vacation in Hawaii and left the girl in the custody of Hickock, according to Scottsdale Detective Sam Bailey. The parents share joint custody, although the girl is now in custody of a family friend.

Fox "News" claims "Bush Didn't Know About Port Deal".

I think that's a load of crap. He knew all about it, and if he didn't, more's the shame to him. He's lost his f*cking mind, outsourcing key shipping and security ports to a company from the United Arab Emirates. How could he possibly be unaware of this?? It's this kind of blatant bullshit that drives me up the wall. Just follow the money, boys, follow the money.....

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,185677,00.html

WASHINGTON — President Bush was unaware that a controversial deal to sell shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports to a United Arab Emirates-owned firm was in the works until it was approved by his administration, the White House said Wednesday.

FINALLY. . . Someone has come out with a 100% bipartisan political bumper sticker. It's the hottest selling bumper sticker; and it comes from the state of New York:

[font style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 255);" size="6"]"2008 ~ RUN, HILLARY, RUN !!"[/font]

Democrats put it on the rear bumper, and  Republicans put it on the front bumper.

You've all heard this drum snippet in countless shows, commercials, and ads... It's called the "world's most important 6-sec drum loop" (lol!).

This video from  Nate Harrison (see the link) narrates the history of the"Amen Break," a six-second drum sample from the b-side of achart-topping single from 1969. This sample was used extensively inearly hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis fordrum-and-bass and jungle music -- a six-second clip that spawnedseveral entire subcultures. Nate Harrison's 2004 video is a cool look at the ownership of culture, the nature of art and creativity, and thehistory of a remarkable music clip.

(Of course, then again, maybe I'm the only one that thinks this is kinda neat. Wouldn't be the first time...  -tb)
