What were some possessions that you have lost and some things you have found?
(I hope we don't have this topic...apologies if we do...)
I've lost my heart several times and surprisingly found friendship even more.
Lost my wallet a couple times on the bus and got it back through BC Transit Lost & Found.
Lost a contact lens playing bball in HS. Miraculously, I found it on the gym floor after class and it was still intact.
Lost my watch last weekend and my dad found it somewhere in his place.
I lose my mind on a daily basis.
I lose everything
Right now I don't know where my cd's went. I've been looking for them since I came home. Couldn't find it.
Seventh Seal was missing from its case, but it was down in the basement.
My NHL '08 game disappeared but I think somebody stole it.
I have to put my wallet and keys in a cupboard container or I'll lose track of it.
I don't know where my cell phone is at the moment, saw it a second ago.
Oh good its in my pocket. phew.
I purposely lost my watch once. I just dropped it behind my mom's bed but she found it. I wanted her to buy me a new one.
I lost this gold chain necklace with a buddha that my mom gave me for my 16th bday. (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Sad/9.gif)
I've lost my bike before. Actually, it was stolen a couple of times because these bigger kids thought it was funny to steal my bike and make me retrieve it. :(
damn kids
poor buddha
I found a bag of 10lbs potatoes sitting under a shopping cart in Save On Foods once. I don't remember what I did with it.
Hey! I've found potatoes in the parking lot as well!!!!
I found a Susan Aglukark cassette tape many years ago- with O Siem on it. Listened to it for years.
I've found great stuff in the dumpsters as well. But that deserves a whole other thread!
Do you have a microwave? (or does Skeptic Cat think microwaves are part of an evil plot...)
Pretty easy to cook a potato in the microwave. Rinse, poke with a fork and nuke for 5mins.
Oh, you could totally put your dumpster findings here. :)
Dumpster Findings-
tons of bottles and cans to return for deposit
tons of wine bottles to use for my own bottling
planters
books
my computer desk
I once found a nice coat hanging on the bench at night. I actually took it, dry cleaned it and wore it. I was VERY poor at that time so that was a very nice finding.
Those are good free findings! :)
Once, I came across someone giving away free couches and computer table. I picked up the free leather couch and the computer table and somebody else picked up a whole set of couches/love seats. That was really cool.
My father-in-law took some butcher knives and a sharpening stone from the dumpster in behind a slaughterhouse.
No joke. But this is a man who will back-up 50ft for a broken bungie cord.
Is there someone on here who has never lost his/her umbrella at least once?

Just like a regular baked potato.
I've never tried a potato in the microwave before. My microwave would probably take 20 min. :(

Eeeeeowwww...... that's something I hope I don't run into.
Awww, Gopher.
Lost virginity. Ahaha. *shuts door*
Getting back to the topic, I lost my ear phone piece that connects to my cellphone. I think I must have dropped it while shopping. Now I have a knock-off ear piece which suits me just fine since I don't really listen to it.
Found: wonderful husband, bliss with girls.
Ewww yuck 49er. How horrible. Did the vision haunt you for a while ?
I would imagine it being pretty traumatic on a kid.

I don't remember.......if it did it wasn't for long
I'd be ruined. I can't even stand the sight of a dead mouse on my porch.
So what happened ? Was it a murder victim ? Did your discovery help solve an investigation ? What....what. I want to know more of the story.
it was in the Fiji Is. I saw the body in the bushes and called my buddy over to look .....we then reported it to police and showed the responding officer the body. We weren't even questioned and don't remember giving our names..........I guess they knew who we were anyway. We didn't know how the body got there.......at that age we weren't interested.
Really ? How strange. You'd think that there would have been a ton of questions. Did you ever hear anything about it again ?
What a story. Yeesh.
No kidding. I'm not even going to tell you about the time I lost my key chain. [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/a090.gif" border=0]

Nope.......and never asked. I remember my buddy and I talked about it but never followed up.
Rats.
The curiosity, the CURIOSITY !!!!
Getting away from the dead body story. (Fiji is known for its civil unrest btw between locals and the indian population, they've had I believe 3 coupes in the last 20 years and a civil war somewhere during this time frame or before.)
Oma when she was living in her house would go at night through people's trash and find toys and such. Then of course she'd tell us a story about Hungary and why people here are so wasteful. lol
Everyone's favourite 'trash toy' she found was this cow and pig that scoot along the floor slowly walking. going mooo and oink oink.
That's not something you'd find everyday, that's for sure, 49er. Yikes...
lol. Spent an hour looking for my wallet.
Silly me it was next to the camera. lol
About once a day someone leaves a bicycle on a bus, SkyTrain or SeaBus. They get off at their stops, and their feet pound the pavement instead of the pedals.[/p] People regularly get off at their stops while their wallets head for the next station.[/p] Transit riders leave behind car and house keys, fishing rods, live insects, cellphones, car parts, stereos, musical instruments, boat oars, teddy bears, baseball bats, pills -- even artificial limbs.
[/p] The found items are collected at the end of each day and taken to TransLink's lost property office, tucked away at the Stadium SkyTrain station.[/p] This small storehouse of forgotten treasures is quiet on a weekday when The Vancouver Sun visits, but there is a steady background buzz of activity. Employees review items, log them in the computer and sort them by category. Madonna is on the radio singing her 1980s hit Like a Prayer, accompanied by the click-click on fingers on a keyboard.[/p] Storage shelves are lined with handwritten labels, identifying, among others, the toy section, the umbrella wall, and the comically honest "oddball." Each item is tagged to according to bus route and date found.[/p] On the oddball shelf are a few hard hats, an antique Egyptian-style plate, plastic containers that didn't make it home, and an orthopedic seat cushion.[/p] An entire wall is covered with row after row of umbrellas. These portable rain shelters are the No. 1 item people in Vancouver leave behind.[/p] Last year, TransLink's lost and found department received 5,953 of them. It also took in 3,232 wallets -- that's just under nine a day -- 2,510 cellphones and 2,164 hats.[/p] Four hundred and forty bicycles were turned in, for an average of 1.2 per day.[/p] Only about a quarter of these items are ever collected by their owners, said Juliana Bailey, manager for Coast Mountain Bus Co.'s customer service department.

Interesting Lil Me. I find it remarkable that people are less attentive to their wallets than they are to their cell phones. I guess that could be part of the problem....distraction ?
I once left my umbrella on the bus. I had set it down on the floor under a side bench. I called lost and found that night, but it had not been turned in. TWO days later, I caught the bus and assumed my regular seat.....and much to my amazement, there was my umbrella in the same spot I had left it.
I remember calling that Translink L&F once for an umbrella. They had it, surprisingly. I lost the same umbrella again and they didn't have it. I think someone did the finders keepers... :(
It was my fav umbrella cuz it was a gift from my last job.
Going back to St. Louis in December I left my sister's Christmas presents (roots hoodie and a shirt) on the airport shuttle, the driver ran me down saying I left something on the airport shuttle. I was in too good of a mood, I tend to forget stuff the happier I am. go figure.
MrPL lost his wallet when he was tubing at Whistler. A kid found it on the hill and returned it to the front desk. (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/14.gif)
oh oh oh lol lucky duck.
