I just caught a bit of this on the news. All charges dropped. Looks like Nifong is to be charged with ethics violations, witholding of exculpatory evidence, etc.

Roy Cooper, the Attorney General, was quoted as saying that on weighing all the available evidence, the accused could not be considered as anything other than innocent, a hell of a strong pronouncement from an AG.

I haven't heard whether any of the Black Panthers were clamoring to be among the first to apologize for their prejudicial comments.

TORONTO (CP) - The stereotype of the Canadian as a beer swillin' hockey nut is alive and well on the Internet, thanks to the computer prowess of a bunch of teenage Americans.

Young fans of the parody song "Canadian Idiot" by Weird Al Yankovic have supplied the Net with cheeky homemade music videos about the Great White North's "Monopoly money" and "silly accent."

The reason I like this article is not because it's about Weird Al but for the quote below:

Canadians shouldn't be offended by Weird Al's lyrics, says Phil McCracken, a 13-year-old fan from Columbus, Ohio.

"It's really making fun of the Americans and their views on the Canadians," says McCracken, who acts out each verse of the song in his simple video.

[P class=headtypea align=left]Welsh-speaking cyclists have been left baffled - and possibly concerned for their health - after a bizarre translation mix-up.

[P class=headtypea align=left]For instead of a road sign telling them to dismount, the Welsh translation informs them that 'bladder disease has returned'.

[P class=headtypea align=left]The temporary sign, placed in front of the roadworks at Barons Court roundabout between Penarth and Cardiff, correctly says 'cyclists dismount' in English, but says 'llid y bledren dymchwelyd' in Welsh.

[P class=headtypea align=left]Owain Sgiv, an officer for the Welsh language campaign group Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, explained: 'Roughly translated, llid y bledren dymchwelyd means bladder disease has returned.

I dug some tapes out of the vault yesterday, and ran across a song called Somethin' Strange by a group called, sounds like "Los Orcas", maybe a Seattle-based group? Taped it off a blues program on KPLU circa 1999. Killer song by a serious kick-ass group. Anybody ever heard of these people? Not sure if I've got their name right.
