[span]Bush Explains Medicare Drug Bill -- Verbatim Quote
Submitted on 2005-12-13 16:35:14

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE:  "I don't really understand. How is the new plan going to fix the problem?"[/span]  [/div][div]  [span][/span]     [span]PRESIDENT BUSH:  (verbatim response)  "Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table.Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to that has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red."

Forward this to others -- so they, too, can understand...[/span]

Geeez. the people at Network Solutions are scum.

I have a few domains registered with them that are coming up for renewal. The typical cost for 1 year of registration is 8 to 10 bucks almost anywhere on the web. I went to renew the one at Network Solutions at they wanted $34.95 PER YEAR. That's just too damn expensive.

So I go to do a domain name transfer and on the 'unlock domain' page there's a little note to the effect of "oh we really want your business, please call us please please please".

So I call them and I tell the nice customer service lady that "$35 a year for registration is not only insane, it's insulting", and that I'm switching to another registrar. I can host them for 4 or 5 years at any other registrar for that price (most have multiple year discounts).

Wow, amazingly enough they [span style="text-decoration: line-through;"]realize they were caught red-handed[/span] generously offer me the renewals at $8.75 a year with no limit on the number of domains, etc etc.

I took them up on their [span style="text-decoration: line-through;"]shitbag[/span] kind and generous offer, but I came away feeling like Network Solutions is run by a bunch of truly scummy motherf*ckers. They'd have gladly let me pay $35 a year for each  domain if I basically hadn't threatened to switch away.

That's just a shitty business ethic. They'll cheat you if  they can but if you catch them, then and only then they'll give you the real price that they should have all along.

That's just a shitty, dishonest way to run a business IMHO.

[span style="font-family: Arial Narrow;"]Pretty soon we'll all be on the list. Wheeeeeeeeee.......I mean, come on-  325, 000 "suspects"? Are we really to believe there are that many people in the US who are considered some sort of "terror threat"? [/span]
[hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"]Civil liberties fear as US terror suspect list rises to 325,000

Julian Borger in Washington
Thursday February 16, 2006
The Guardian

Civil liberties organisations expressed outrage yesterday after it was reported that the database of terrorist suspects kept by the US authorities now holds 325,000 names, a fourfold increase in two and a half years.

The list, maintained by the National Counterterrorism Centre (NCTC), includes different spellings of the same person's names as well as aliases, but the Washington Post quoted NCTC officials as saying that at least 200,000 individuals are on it. They said that "only a very, very small fraction" of that number were US citizens, but that insistence did little to defuse the reaction.

Okay, you all have probably heard some strange requests, but this one may qualify as one of the odder ones...

What I need are pictures of.....elbows. Yes, elbows, with the arm bent. I can't say for what just yet, but it'll be fun. :) No, I do not have an elbow fetish, it's for a project. :)

See the sample pic below for an idea of what I need. I can't use elbows with hair unless it's easily airbrushed out. I'd prefer pictures of women's elbows similar to the one below.

The bigger the picture the better (it's easy to reduce them, more difficult to enlarge them). Finally, if at all possible, they need to be against a more-or-less featureless background (like in the samples below).

I know, this sounds...well I don't know what it sounds like, but rest assured it's not for anything nasty.  Please post 'em here or send them to me in a Private Message.

This is SO frickin cool. If the video doesn't play, go here: [a href="http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2693671"]http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2693671[/a]

Nice sunny day, little jaunt, no enemies shooting at you, breakfast waiting when you get back. Ride along on a "magic carpet" (Navy F-18) from catapult launch to carrier landing as the pilot banks and cruises through clouds over the open ocean.
