Mary Winkler, Preacher's Wife who shot her Husband

I read this story, and I really felt bad, learning about the woman who shot her husband, the preacher.  How could she do something like that?

  I mean, why did she disconnect the phone line?  She should have just left the darn phone alone after she shot him.
