The truth is coming out, slowly but surely.........

White House learned of levee failure by email on night Katrina hit
Snip from NYT story by Eric Lipton:[blockquote]In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Bush administration officialssaid they had been caught by surprise when they were told on Tuesday,Aug. 30, that a levee had broken, allowing floodwaters to engulf NewOrleans. But Congressional investigators have now learned that an eyewitnessaccount of the flooding from a federal emergency official reached theHomeland Security Department's headquarters starting at 9:27 p.m. theday before, and the White House itself at midnight.[/p](...)"FYI from FEMA," said an e-mail message from the agency'spublic affairs staff describing the helicopter flight, sent Mondaynight at 9:27 to the chief of staff of Homeland Security SecretaryMichael Chertoff and recently unearthed by investigators. Maybe they thought there'd be some good fishin'...[/DIV]
...religion has made some contributions to civilization. It helped in the early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian priests to chronicle ecplipses with such care that in time they were able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others

It really does make sense when you think about it.[/DIV]How could the authorities not know the seriousness of such a massive disaster days after it occurred?

It's like Bush's 7 infamous minutes after 9/11. I don't know about you, but there seems to be a pattern of massive inertia and indecision following major incidents with this white house. The really ironic part, is that so many people voted for Bush because they felt he would be better in a crisis (tougher and more resolute). Meh.
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.
