Yes, that's the sad part of it. I was expecting the best show ever, and sadly I miss most of it because of my schedule. Anyway, this show will not make forget for long to the Chinese people the terrible conditions of  living they have to suffer in the countryside and the sweatshops, or the inequalities growing that their parents gave their life to erased in 1949... Sure they have games, but do all the toungzemen (comrades) will have bread tomorrow?

I was a little disappointed at the amount of negativity in the comments section of the CTV website.   Are there a billion political reasons to not enjoy it.....sure......but I enjoyed it for what it was.  It is what it is.

I'm not surprised. There's a lot of racism in our society, including among the "progressive" "Me racist? Never!" type. The Western bourgeoisie need but also hate China and these people blindly follow the chauvinist poison of their ruling class, totally manipulated. Just look at the post from SD about the lack of interest for the first time towards the Olympics. Yeah right... My ass. A bunch of racist, envious, scared and jealous people. I think the worst are those Free Tibet protesters who are just a bunch of hypocrits ignorants and fake protesters in admiration of feudal values that they would never accept to live beside more than for 2 weeks of expensive trekking in their life as a moronic tourist in their muddy bubble, knowing perfectly well they're not there for long. Don't forget the way the media point ad nauseam to the pollution that our capitalist exported to them since they invest all their money in that Police State among others. Bad bad Chinese, yeah right.

LOL, Please add some middle class foreign losers with spare time and too much money from far away who know nothing about Canada waving "Free Québec", "Free Native" and "Free Inuit People Now" signs in front of  every TV crew of the World, desesperately looking for them to be arrested - let's hope brutally - by cops. Sorry I don't dig Olympics. I assume they will have a lot of chrome and flashing and glittering stuff. Maybe the queen can wear an airfoam custome shaped into a fish and wave at the crowd surrounded by giant chips. Now that would be funny and memorable for once. lol

Anyway Tom Brokaw said it best about China. There are many China's 200 million living on 2 dollars a day, 300-500 or so are 'western' then you've got the ruling class. If you put it in that perspective, China is just like its imperialist days, ruling class, rich class, everyone else.

Anyway the bigger news is that Russia is back being an imperialist power again with the South Ossetia conflict.
