Gas

How much do you pay for a gallon of gas, and where are you? (approximately)

It's $2.70 to $2.90 in most of Seattle.

Um...I think it's something like $2.59 down here in Monterey. Luckily I don't use gas, but if I did I'd be steamed.

Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.

I think that it's a $1 and a few cents now.  I haven't checked lately.

$2.47 @ Costco in the East Bay

tenkani

Oh yeah, I forgot you lived down this way!

How's life, dude?

great!..........sun's out.......continous reminder in the news that we live above a fault is worrisome.  How you doing?

tenkani

*looking out window*

Woah! You're right!! About time...

I'm doing Ok. I'm considering whether I should try to get some work done or just f*ck around online all day...

Earthquakes. I haven't thought about that in a while. We actually have a fault or two down this way as well, but not like the good old BA. Where I grew up in Berkeley was 100% landfill. Wheeeee!

I live on 100% fill also....the Bay is just outside my back door.  The last major quake was in 1906 and everyone is saying a major quake occurs every 100 years.

tenkani

Well, with all the quake upgrades and your highly skilled fire department I don't think the next big one will do quite so much damage. My understanding is that in 1906, most of the deaths and damage was from the ensuing fire and not the initial quake. Hopefully your building is solid?

I don't know what the equivelant and everything is, I never could understand gallons??

anyways, I own a VW diesel. In 2002, price of diesel was around 39 cents/lt.

Today, it is around 85.9 cents/lt. in Calgary. Blechhh!!

tenkani

Ah! Hey, is there any sort of support for bio-diesel up your way??

There is a little support for it. With these towering oil companies around here, the overshadow a lot of smart ideas.

sorry^, I couldn't find a more recent link. There is amazing potential with the vast farmland that surrounds this city.

tenkani

Yup. But you know some people reclaim oil from fast food restaurants and whatnot to make bio-diesel. This is oil that would otherwise be dumped somewhere and I think it's a fantastic idea.

Yeah, it is fantastic. So many good ideas, a lot are just simple too! I seen some of those used french fry oil run cars on TV. The students that helped work on it said the worst part is they keep getting a whiff of fast food and get the munchies. haha.
