Closer to the era I am familiar with. I am not big on bubblegum pop. Looks to me, 1998 was pretty sad? Usher?? Spice Girls?!

Me too Michel..  I only recognize a very few.  (except I like the one by Savage Garden)

I wonder if a person gets to an age, where their musical taste hits a 'plateau'.  A place where their music comfort zone takes roots. (???)  Just a thought.

I know I lost interest in new music, because so much of it became so 'artificially generated'. By that I mean all the 'stars' that were born out of reality shows and competition, instead of succeeding by working their way to the top.  Names that became popular before their music.

[/DIV]I'm with you on that as well.  I like the 70's, 80's and 90's instead of the 2000 generation.

Lil Me

I'm not familiar with too many on this list.  We lived out in the country that year.

I do remember excessive radio play of Tubthumping and The Way that summer.  We were renovating a house in AB, and heard those songs every hour (at least..)

Time capsule. Mine was out of my generation because I prefer substance to noise and entertainment. Hence I liked the music of the hippies, having mental orgasm on California Dreamin' while backpacking on the desert roads of USA while my generation was stucked on The Knack or The Cars

Time Capsule!  No way!  Here I was thinking you were like 60 years old.

Cool Michel. Music from the heart comes out every once in awhile, boardroom braindead fart rock kind of just keeps going.

I love music before my time too. Stuff I dig out of my mom's basement storage. Old vinyls of Pink Floyd, Beatles, Zeppelin. As for the 90s or newer, it is definately hit and miss.

  Good observations Michel.

I think where I tossed in the towel, was when I could no longer keep up.  Someone would come out with a sound that really appealed to me.  Then I'd hear another song by that person, I'd say....Oh, I like her sound....and someone would say..."that's not her".  Then another....then another and another.  Each one by a different person, but all with the same sound.

The last 5 years has been this thing where they take their voices up and down the scale ad nauseum.....they even murder the national anthems with the same stale trick.  If you heard one....you hear em all. No originality.

going on music that defines you, so true.

Aaaaah... my kinda list. Don't yo be dissin' some of these songs - they're good! Well - except for the Spice Girls. I don't know how they got into the list.

Dissing ! ?  I can't diss....I've never heard them.  I read through the list carefully....I have heard of 7 out of 100.

Best song on the list....Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve
