Removing or deleting posts.

P.C.

After saying a few things, that I knew beforehand that I would delete, I really felt it is a luxury with the potential of becoming abused.   (can't think of a better term).  I did it, but it really felt like cheating.  Removing ones own comments renders the thread nonsensical. The person who had responded to your posts gets left behind looking like they were engaged in a conversation with themselves (making them look undeservedly foolish). (I did that too....although I felt the need to warn the poster that I was going to in fact, 'remove' a couple comments I had made).

I think that all responses should have some thought behind them, and that the poster should be accountable for what they have said.   Am I off base here, or does anybody agree ???

I do agree. Keeping something permanent definately keeps you thinking more about what you post before you post it. And we should all do our best to keep this place the anti-DV, and keep it lively and comfortable.  [/DIV]I didn't even know that was a feature here.
...religion has made some contributions to civilization. It helped in the early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian priests to chronicle ecplipses with such care that in time they were able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others

Yea, Future Canadian.  I did it, and it really felt kinda 'scummy'.  I don't think I'll be doing it again.

Hey P.C. , maybe it'll come in handy sometimes.  Just enjoy yourself. Night.

I agree with P.C., although I was thinking more about the ability to edits ones' own posts after the fact.
This could end up being very confusing.
Maybe if there was a little flag to denote that a thread's been modified?
I dunno...

Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.

P.C.

That could work too tenkani...it just doesn't feel right for some reason.

It's a little different to modify a post, than to remove it all together, although modifying still excuses one for being accountable for what you say. If you say it, you should own it.  Perhaps I'm being a bit anal, I don't know.

I know how to remove but I don't know how to delete. And where's this karma function the adm is talking about?
