Right. Not that I'm a big fan of them but have you heard a country song that was so funky it sounded just.... normal? And I ain't talkin' about "Acky Breaky Heart" garden variety. (now that song should be shot to death then nailed to the board)

What country song(s) do you like?

I like John Denver's Country Roads:

  Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.
Bill Cosby.

that cheating song by Carrie Underwood...
kudo's to the songs character...LOL..though...ripping up leather seats isn't my style

Devil

I like some Johnny Cash. He was PURE! (and Willie Nelson in tiny doses).

Other than that, country music makes me want to climb to the top of a tall building and jump off. Actually slashing my wrists on the way down to hopefully end my life much faster.

So...yep, not a big fan.

Lil Me

I'm not a big fan either, but I lived in Calgary and it was omnipresent- so it etched its way into my psyche.

 Oh, it's 40 below and I don't give a f*ck, I've got a heater in my truck...

I can't say it better than Devil.

Agree 2,000%
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.

Russ

Gordon Lightfoot is the best.

And who could forget the classic.....

Drop Kick Me Jesus Through the Goal Posts of Life
The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

"Pissin in the wind

 bettin on a losin friend

 makin the same mistakes

we swore we'd never make again"

from the timeless Jerry Jeff Walker song..."Pissin in the Wind"

and on the last lines he slows it down and switches to Dylan's melody in "Blowin in the Wind" to sing:

"the answer my friends is pissin in the wind

the answer is pissin in the wind"

Me too....in a nutshell.....except I'm sure I would throw in a blender somewhere on the way down.

I think Gordon Lightfoot is folk....not country.

One song that I'm not sure is country or not.  It has that country voice....but I love the words.

I Hope You Dance.....Leanne Womak (sp?)
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leaves you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
When ever one door closes
I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give fate a fighting chance
And when you get the choice
To sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear
Those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth makin'
Dont't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When it comes close to sellin' out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More then just a passing glance
And when you get the choice
To sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes
I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give fate a fighting chance
And when you get the choice
To sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
[/DIV]
Sir Isaac Newton invented the swinging door....for the convenience of his cat.
