Microsoft dropping DRM from Zune Music Store

Microsoft says that it's dropping DRM from some of the catalog in the Zune store. This is the other shoe-drop everyone has been waiting for since Apple announced last week that it would sell the entire EMI catalog (albeit at a 30% higher price) without DRM through the iTunes Music Store.

So, once again Microsoft says "Wait for us, we're the leader!"

Apple: We'll make a PC with a graphical user interface.
Microsoft: We will too!

Apple: We'll make our OS X available in a 'family pack'.
Microsoft: We'll make Vista available in a 'family pack'!

Apple: We'll make it so you can stack documents in "piles" on your desktop.
Microsoft: We will too!

Apple: We'll make a portable music player. (iPod)
Microsoft: We will too! (Zune)

Apple: We'll sell music without DRM.
Microsoft: We will too!

Microsoft: "We Never Stop [span style="text-decoration: line-through;"]Copying Innovating![/span]"

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.
