[!--begin story text--] The federal Transportation Safety Board says it looked into whether sex was taking place on the bridge of the B.C. ferry Queen of the North when it sank last year.

A board spokesman tells the Toronto Star that scenario was part of its investigation.

A B.C. Ferries spokesperson acknowledges there has been speculation about sex playing a role in the sinking, but wouldn't comment further.

Two crew members — a man and a woman — were reported to have been on the command bridge at the time the ferry sank after crashing at full speed into rocks south of Prince Rupert.

A draft report on the sinking — in which two of the 101 passengers are missing and presumed dead — is to be delivered to the board within days.

The draft report goes next to interested parties for comment and a final report is expected in three the six months.

Oh ah. That would be the biggest booboo reason for sinking a ferry.

Well, remember how the Valdez Alaska sunk and spilled a gazillion tons of oil because the captain was drunk>

They must have been doing something like this, how else can they explain away the gross negligence of MISSING A COURSE CORRECTION BY 14 MINUTES!!! On a narrow passageway too.. incredible.

talk about lax security or rules on the ferry.  Do you think the pilot will get his sailing licence revoked?

I think its already revoked SD. They are doing an inquirey into it, but the union is inpeding it by telling the two to refuse to make statements, saying they are doing an investigation internally... They are impeding a government investigation. That to me is taking their protection of them too far... way too far.

Its actually normal to only have two people on watch on the bridge when steaming at night. We do. Then there will probably be only one person below in the engine room.

yeah its good to have someone watch but come on who let the girl up there to start having sex with the captain or vice versa.  2 people died, and now the BC public had to pay for a new ship because the feds decided to tax the new ship.

ah still they've got blood on there hands. Pilots get thrown in jail for 10's of years if they come to work drunk here.  Then again our legal system isn't the best example to follow.
