TORONTO (CP) - The stereotype of the Canadian as a beer swillin' hockey nut is alive and well on the Internet, thanks to the computer prowess of a bunch of teenage Americans.

Young fans of the parody song "Canadian Idiot" by Weird Al Yankovic have supplied the Net with cheeky homemade music videos about the Great White North's "Monopoly money" and "silly accent."

The reason I like this article is not because it's about Weird Al but for the quote below:

Canadians shouldn't be offended by Weird Al's lyrics, says Phil McCracken, a 13-year-old fan from Columbus, Ohio.

"It's really making fun of the Americans and their views on the Canadians," says McCracken, who acts out each verse of the song in his simple video.

I have the song. Its funny but its more making fun of americans then Canadians.
And I love the 'monopoly' money. Its much better and cooler then are ugly pieces of paper.
Canadian money to me shows emotion.  American money is just plain, boring, and just a piece of paper. The pictures on the Canadian money to me come alive while ours are boring and stale much like the country is.

Me either! I'm sure I checked it out as usual. Sorry 'bout that. I'll see if I can find one that works.

  How a bout:

Muchos gracious, weird al.  It was very informative.  I learned that I'm not Canadian after all.
I don't like hockey, and I've never had a beer.  I don't own nor have ever worn a red flannel shirt. I don't eat doughnuts or moose meat and I've always thought of Kraft macaroni as being as American as apple pie and hot dogs.

I DO however think our money is goofy.

So, you pack heat when you go to the mall then, eh?

Oh yeah you've got to start drinking beer, P.C., canuck-ette or not. Here's a good one (Belgian) to get you started. First one's free!

Is that the same guy that makes popcorn ???

I love Canadian money. Its cool.
Maybe in Texas on the gun thing I think you can carry guns anywhere there. Here you have to ditch the gun at the door but if it doesn't have a no guns allowed sign then you are within your rights to carry.

Oh and on a funny note politicians at the state capitol carry guns while debating each other. Its within there rights. Wouldn't be suprised if they started dueling each other.

Well, anything that leaves lace on a glass can't be ALL bad.....and if their beer is as good as their chocolate, that would be a GOOD thing.  Perhaps I'll give it a shot (that's a little bar humour).

One of the reviews said it tasted like apricots and prunes.  What do you think ??

This wouldn't be too good at all.

568 reviews, & a lot of contradictions. What I get is a nice clean bitter taste, and not all the stuff that's mentioned: vanilla, banana, cotton candy - wtf?. There must be a school somewhere for fake beer-speak, like that wine-speak school so many wine writers seem to have gone to.

Sportsdude

I've heard Granville Island has some great in house beers.

I hear ya, weird al.....I'm not so good with the wine-ese either.  A simple description will suffice most times.  Everybody has their own tastes and rarely will you find two people that taste the same thing....and when you do, they probably have different ways of describing it.

However the descriptions DO make it sound kind of mysterious and alluring. (that's MY beer-speak)
I'm going to try it. (as soon as I'm not snowed in)

Its not halloween anymore but there was a local farm/brewery that made pumpkin beer. Pretty good i thought.
