Holy Cow...

I am no longer a newbie!

depending on the position of the creator and inventor of this technology,ie,will he sell out to large auto producers who will shelf it and not develop it due to "massive infrastructure requirements" to retrofit cars it may stick around.

  let's hope it does.

what happened to the electric car?

  [A href="http://www.sonyclassics.com/whokilledtheelectriccar/"]http://www.sonyclassics.com/whokilledtheelectriccar/[/A]

and yet there is still pure hydrogen technology...(PEM Fuel Cells)

Hydrogen is a joke. It needs to many miracles. For one how are you going to make it without using fossil fuels. How are you going to ship it. AND THE BIG ONE. Hydrogen FREEZES in cold weather. So thats pretty much makes it pointless. Plus the cars cost atleast 1mill at the moment. You can make an electric car that can go 300 miles an a single charge for about 30 to 40 grand.
"We can't stop here. This is bat country."

soapbox

not a joke.

PEM fuel cells have been around for a hundred years.

hydrogen is pressurized into gas and fed into the PEM (membrane) where is reacts with oxygen to form water as a waste product after the electron has travelled around the membrane.(producing the electric charge).

it doesn't freeze cause the input feed lines are warmed.

cold starts are not a problem until -25 c.

but, your point about how to make hydrogen is valid.the energy loop is not broken and it requires massive amounts of energy to produce hydrogen.

most say it will be a nuclear source that makes it and then from there into the cars.

I don't think he sell out (yet).

He has patented his engine converted thingy and created a company already.

According to Fox News, the US military already asked him to get prototype going to make Hummer able to be run with water and/or gasoline (won't help if the hummer is running in hot desert area, wink wink, nudge nudge).

  Yeah, Ballard power

it should work, it must! (I am in deep desperate feeling after seeing smog and polution during summer vacation).

I also hope that the guy that convert his car to take his restaurant used-frying-vege-oil get more coverage on the news. That one actually quietly gaining popularity amongst the people of his town. I hope Willy Nelson and his bio-diesel bus heard about it too.

Personally, I rather smell french fries than gasoline or diesel smell, but... let's just hope that, that won't happen or we will have more health problem when people subliminally driven to buy more McD fries.

That -25C limit will be a hurdle for North East US and Canadian Winter...

Speaking of temperature, what the heck happen to the attempt to make chocolate withstand the 40C (mediterranian desert temp?). I think people should get the chocolate going first, then use that technology to attract more female engineers to get the Hydrogen thing done, hehehehehe...

  (*Homer Simpson's voice*) mmm Chocolate...
