The guy who created it probly got the idea off of the tv show 'mythbusters' where one of the guys on the show had a surf board hooked up to a blower.

From what I recall of that show, the hoverboard wasn't overly safe.

yeah helmet is required. The guy who wears a hat hover board worked really well on concrete, thou but was extremely too fast.
