That's it! Way cool. I couldn't spot the guy I used to work with in their group picture, but I'd bet he's still there. I used to buy a few bottles of duty-free whiskey for him and he'd reimburse me. It was about 1/2 the cost of what he would have had to pay if he'd bought it locally.

He used to research (among other things) starfish bone, for use as a replacement in humans. It's very porus and our bone cells just grow right through it forming a long-term bone joint that practically disappears with time.

He was also researching the spread of DDT. Turns out that shit percolates its way into almost everything- plants, trees, animals, humans, everything. And it takes forever to degrade and become harmless. DDTalso  fluoresces brightly in a scanning electron microscope in 'electroluminescence' mode, making it easy to spot.

Ahh, the useless knowledge I've collected...

I don't live on the edge, but sometimes I go there to visit.

Sportsdude

Yeah DDT is bad man. I'm studying it in my Environment Science book.

"useless knowledge"?[/DIV]Give me a break. You can install electron microscopes, build rad message boards, who knows what else. You've got more skills than Napoleon Dynamite m'man.

It helped in the early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian priests to chronicle ecplipses with such care that in time they were able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others

So how 'bout them canadian girls hockey team? eh?[/DIV]Do you think they ran up the score or not? I personally don't think so.  I've been in football games where my team was up by 70 points and we were putting in jv players and they were screwing up and guess what? Somebody got hurt.  I have also been in a game where my team has lost by 70 points. That was my other high school team. They didn't give a shit. Thought it was funny that we were getting are ass whipped.

I think that they ran up the score, but they were right to do so!.

"Regardless of the score, this is the Olympics," Davidson said after Sunday's win. "These girls have worked hard to be here and we would take things away from our team, our opponents and everybody involved if we didn't compete as hard as we could, and if we didn't do everything we could to put us where we want to be." [/DIV]                                                                                                          Also, if it comes to a tie, the home ice advantage is decided on goals scored.  Would hate to be in that tie situation and have to look back at the amount of goals scored, and the reason we lost home ice is because we let up to save someone else's feelings....

Don Cherry preaches against how bad it is to run up the score and embarassing other teams...  but he is also talking about regular season, NHL games...

Those games are not nearly as important

I second all that. In games of such dramatic importance on a world stage no quarter is asked and none should be given.

Yeah and just to prove the olympics is differnt point of view Sweden you could say just ran up the score on italy.  Although the US media is jumping on the Canadian team is un-sportsmanlike.  Grannato and Clement are just grilling the girls.  I wish Canadians could realise how much the US media hates Canada in general. Although this year the US Media is at an alltime high in biased coverage.  Good thing they are falling flat on their faces because the U.S. is stinking it up this year.  Just watch the Curling event between US and Norway and Norway made the US squad look like they didn't belong there.
