Muslim Group condemns report of U.S. rape

AP

An influential Sunni Muslim organization Sunday strongly condemned reports that U.S. troops raped an Iraqi women then killed her and her family, saying it shows "the truth of the ugly American face."

The Association of Muslim Scholars said that what U.S. troops have done by "raping this girl then mutilating her is shameful and will remain as a sign of shame to American invaders."

U.S. investigators believe that American soldiers spent nearly a week plotting an attack in which they raped the Sunni Muslim woman, then killed her and her family in a religiously mixed area about 20 miles south of Baghdad.

The Americans entered the home, separated three family members from the woman, then raped her and set fire to her body, a U.S. military official said Saturday on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

The three others, apparently including a child, were also slain, another official said.

The association said in its statement that it "condemns this ugly crime and declares to the whole world that this mean behavior and terrible violations committed by the invaders show the truth of the ugly American face and also shows that their claims of calling for humanity and liberation are not true."

"We put the world and all humanitarian organizations as witnesses to this ugly crime and call them to face the American recklessness that went way too far," said the association, a strong critic of American presence in Iraq.

This is what happens in war, which is why anyone with a shred of common decency or intelligence is against any war and resists it at every opportunity.

And to the "boys will be boys" guy:  will it be okay with you when it happens to your daughter, your sister, your mother?

Of course not, "EED" is a hypoctritical moron without an ounce of common sense.

I found the news article: [A href="http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/world/4019201.html"]http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/world/4019201.html[/A]  In war time, getting accurate accounts is not easy.  If this really happened, it is horrific, and this war has reached new depths of savage depravity.

Its real. The first real account came out yesterday on Yahoo News through AP now Reuters has a story on it.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military is investigating whether U.S. soldiers raped an Iraqi woman and then killed her and three members of her family, including a child, south of Baghdad in March, officials said on Friday.

It is the latest in a series of military investigations in which U.S. troops are suspected of killing civilians in Iraq.

Army Maj. Gen. James Thurman, the top U.S. commander in the Baghdad area, asked the Army's Criminal Investigation Command to look into the deaths in Mahmudiyah, south of the capital, the military said.

The investigation began last Saturday, one day after two U.S. soldiers reported suspicions about the involvement of other soldiers, the military said in a statement released in Baghdad.

A U.S. Army official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said at least three U.S. soldiers from the 502nd Infantry Regiment were under investigation.

Last week, 12 U.S. troops were charged with murder in the deaths of Iraqi civilians in two separate incidents. In addition, another criminal investigation is continuing into the suspected role of U.S. Marines in killing 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians in the western town of Haditha last November.

In the latest case, the Army official said one of the soldiers who came forward with information about the crime said two soldiers were involved in the rape of the woman and then one of them killed her, a child and two adults, in their home.

The soldier suspected of killing the four family members was discharged from the military and is back in the United States, the official said. The official did not provide the reason for the discharge.

The soldiers were reported to have returned from the scene with blood stains on their clothes, the official said.

No one has yet been charged, the official said.

The other soldier who provided information about the crime said he had heard that three soldiers may have been involved, the official said.

The official did not know how the four Iraqis were killed.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military is investigating whether U.S. soldiers raped an Iraqi woman and then killed her and three members of her family, including a child, south of Baghdad in March, officials said on Friday.

The war in Iraq, totally unecessary and based on a false-premise and lies to begin with, was by most expert accounts, including that of several retired generals, ineptly executed.  Rumsfeld's micro-managing was a variation of the same kind of strategic mistakes made in Vietnam.  The abundance of imperial failures throughout history, past and recent, reveal the futility of this foolish chickenhawk-instigated war.

The soldiers committing these depraved acts would likely have lived perfectly normal law-abiding lives if they'd remained in the US where they belonged.  They've partaken in extreme, bloodthirsty violence involving rape, torture, and murder.

US moral authority in all areas is eroding to a vast and tragic degree.

No one can know that, this is pure speculation. You could be right, probably even are right, but there isn't anyway to KNOW this.

They've partaken in extreme, bloodthirsty violence involving rape, torture, and murder.

And that kind of thing NEVER happens here. Not in New York, not in Texas, not in any state in the US. In fact no one ever even stubs their toe in the US. It's a big Happyland Fun Ride where no one ever does anything mean to someone else.

It was inevitable.
