Dozens of fossils of an ancient loon-like creature that some say is the [a href="http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?chanID=sa003&articleID=00073E23-CDE6-1491-8DE683414B7F0000"]missing link in bird evolution[/a] have been discovered in northwest China.

The remains of 40 of the nearly modern amphibious birds, so well-preserved that some even have their feathers, were found in Gansu province, researchers report in Friday's issue of the journal Science. Previously only a single leg of the creature, known as Gansus yumenensis, had been found.

(Obviously they were planted there by the [a href="http://venganza.org/"]Flying Spaghetti Monster[/a] to test the convictions of the faithful!)
The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

LOL. Ok, but as convincing as that sounds, keep in mind that a true believer might very well argue their god placed fossils in the ground 6-10 thousand years ago to baffle the minds of humankind. In fact, that was a fairly popular argument from the Christian right a few years back. After all, their god works in mysterious ways!!

But as you imply, of course, most of the arguments fundies use to support the theory of creation can also be used to support the theory of the FSM (blessed be His name).

For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.
