What was the best job you ever had?(or still have)

Mine was working a burritto stand for the 1994 Lollapalooza tour. Travelled the country, partied with some rock stars (L7, Breeders), met my (then) idol Nick Cave, got to hang out in NYC, New Orleans, SanFrancisco, and tons of other cool places. Once in a lifetime experience that was.

Sounds like that was one awesome job FC.

I don't think I've had mine yet.  I'm kind of a Jill of all trades, Mistress of none (if I may mutilate the expression)  The last 5 years, I've been working on my own.  I do custom window treatments, and I can't say I love it. (always thrilled when it's done, but....)  I do tiling, flooring and general reno/remodelling type stuff.  That's not bad.  Plus I do wedding invitations, and that's my favourite thing to do.  Working at home seems like it might be good, but I miss the social interaction, and the 'disipline' or structure. I'll keep waiting.

I hear you about working from home P.C.- I'd love to do it but couldn't really trust myself to not to goof off. Having a routine is nice. But I sure would like to be my own boss. Cheers to you for making it work.

It IS easy to goof off FC.  I have made it my mantra, that I work better under pressure, allowing myself to leave it to a 'crunch' situation before a deadline.  I shamefully admit, that sometimes I even spend time thinking of believable reasons why I need an extra day, when in fact I HAVE the time to get it done.[img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a100.gif" border=0]

lol! Ain't that the truth. I need to log off soon and really get to work and finish laying out a menu I said would be ready tomorrow morning. I been spending the weekend walking a fine line between being lazy and productive (got all my chores done, sat around on the computer otherwise). Now one last project...

Yes I'm working at a new pizza place that rocks teh house! We do smoked meats (all organic free range etc) and pizzas. I'm the pizza specialist. And I try to put my art degree to use at least once a year, so I'm designing the new menu. (I need a pizza tossing smilie)

Those are great! Where do you get 'em? Every time I've tried to get free smilies I get some invasive download BS.

P.C. I also relate to your Jack/Jill of all trades thought. I've explored dozens of things a little bit before I'm off to chase another butterfly. Every six months it's on to a new idea that this time for sure will take over the world and I'll be rich and famous (or at least be my own boss and make a comfortable living).

I think I  missed my calling.  Probably because I didn't hear anything.  The trick is to have a job you love doing....then it's not work.  If I'm going to find my niche, I hope it's soon.

Anyway, I'm off to bed early tonight.  Worked pretty hard on the property today, and I'm tuckered
